Solution
Before starting this DI we have to remember we do not solve exam based DIs on
practically known facts, we consider the date in the question as true. Here it is
given that the total number of candidates who cleared the bank exam relative to
the question.
[Data of students who have cleared the exam]
In 2019
Only Prelims = 1584
Let number of candidates who cleared both mains and prelims be = a
And number of candidates who cleared only mains be = b
Now given
a+b= 1584*56/44 = 2016
& a-b = 216
So, a = 1116 – who cleared both prelims and mains
& b = 900 – who cleared only mains
& total students is 3600

In 2020
Let the number of candidates who cleared only Prelims be a, number of
candidates who cleared only Mains be b & number of candidates who cleared
both stages be c.
Given,
a+c = 50%, so b = 50%
& if 33% didn’t clear mains that means they only cleared prelims so a = 33%
So c = 17%
Now, also b-a = 17% = 850
So 100% = 5000
a = 1650, b = 2500 & c= 850
Total = 5000
In 2021
Let the number of candidates who cleared only Mains be 3x , so the number of
candidates who cleared both stages will be 2x & number of candidates who
cleared only prelims will be 2800-2x
Given,
2800-2x= 50% of total
That means 2x+3x = 50% of total
So, 2800-2x = 2x+3x
2800 = 7x
x = 400
Only Mains be 3x = 1200
Only prelims = 2800-800 = 2000
& both mains & prelims = 2*400 = 800
Total = 4000

In 2022
Only mains = 25%
Who didn’t clear any one stage = those who cleared both stages = 45%
Only prelims = 100-45-25 = 30%
Given,
45%-25% = 20% = 900
So 100% = 4500
Only mains = 1125
Only prelims = 1350
Both prelims + mains = 2025

Q1.
St I: 3600 is a perfect square so true.
St 2: required ratio = 850:2000 = 17:40 so true
St 3: average = [900 + 1200 + 1125]/3 = 1075 not true
So option b is correct.

Q2.
Q1 = Difference = 4500-4000 = 500
Q2 = Required Avg = [2500+1350]/2 = 1925
So Q2>Q1
Q3.
Females who cleared Prelims stage and Mains stage in 2021 & 2020 together are
[850+800]*76% = 1254

Q4.
Total appeared in
2019 = 3600*100/60 = 6000
2020 = 5000*100/80 = 6250
So Average = 12250/2 = 6125

I. 3p+7q = 4
II. 0.5p + q = 0.59
III. 0.5q-0.6p = 0.10

A. Only I
B. Both I & II
C. Both II & III
D. Both I & III
E. All I, II & III
Answer Key:
1. B
2. A
3. C
4. B

Solution:
In Bag E
Number of Red balls= Number of Green balls = 24/2 = 12

In Bag F
Probability of picking 2 green balls = gc2/18c2
= g(g-1)/18*17 = 5/51
= g(g-1)=6*5
=g =6 = number of green balls
So Number of red balls = 18-6 = 12

In Bag A
Number of Red balls = 12+12 = 24
Number of Green balls = 36-24 = 12

In Bag D
Number of Red Balls = 12+3 = 15
Number of Green balls = 35-15 = 20

In Bag C
Number of green balls = 24-12+1 = 13
Number of red balls = 22-13 = 9

In Bag B
Number of red balls = R/30 = 4/15
R =8 = number of red balls
Number of green balls = 30-8 = 22
Total Red Green
A 36 24 12
B 30 8 22
C 22 9 13
D 35 15 20
E 24 12 12
F 18 12 6

Q1.
In Bag G
Number of red balls = [24+12]/2 = 18
Number of green balls = 22+6 = 28
Probability of selecting 1 green ball = 28/T= 4/10
So T = Total balls = 70
Yellow balls = 70-18-28 = 24
Yellow –Green = 4

Q2.
Total balls in B +A = 30+36 = 66
Left in A = 36-[x-4] = 40-x
Left in B = 30-[x+4] = 26-x
Remaining in A + B = 66-2x = 48
= x= 9

So Red ball transferred from A = 9-4 = 5

So Green ball transferred from B = 9+4 = 13
So total in D now is = 35+18 = 53
So total red balls in D now = 15+5 = 20
Probability of picking Red from D = 20/53

Q3.
Red balls in C=9, D= 15, E= 12, F= 12
Total red ball in these 4 bags = 48
Required Probability = 15C1*33C1 / 48C2 = 165/376

Q4.
Probability of Green ball from bag A = p = 12/36 =1/3
Probability of Red ball from bag D = q = 15/35 = 3/7
So
I: 3*1/3 +7*3/7 = 1+3 = 4. So correct
II: 0.5*1/3 + 3/7 = 1/6+3/7 = (7+18)/42 = 25/42 = 0.59. So correct
III: 0.5*3/7 -0.6*1/3 = 3/14 -1/5 = 1/70 = 0.014. So incorrect
Thus only I & II

Solutions:

Let the number of vanilla and mango icecreams sold by C be ‘c’ as both are equal.
Let number of mango and orange icecreams sold by B be ‘a’ and ‘b’ respectively.
Let Chocolate icecream by C be ‘d’.

Now we know

Total of icecreams by (C-B) = 320

(210+c+c+d+210) - (120+30+a+150+b) = 320

a + b = 2c + d -200 (equation I)

we know c:d = 2:1

so, d = ½ c

Again,

b = 150/100 a = 1.5a

Also,

a = 25/100 (100+c)
c = 4a-100 (equation II)

using all these values in equation I we have,

a + b = 2c + d -200

a + 1.5a = 2c + c/2 -200

2.5a = 2.5c – 200 (equation III)

Solving II and III we get,

a = 60

c = 4*60 -100 = 140

b = 1.5a = 90

d = c/2 = 140/2 = 70

Chocolate 250 150 70 470
Orange 150 90 210 450
Total 750 450 770 1970

Q1. Total icecream bought by B in week 1 = 450*19/15 = 570

So unsold icecream from week 1 = 570-450 = 120

New icecreams purchased

Vanilla + butterscotch + orange = 6/5(120+30+90) = 6/5*240 = 288

And, chocolate + mango = 11/10(60+150) = 11/10(210) = 231

Total icecreams sold in week 2 is 120+288+231 = 639

Q2. Total cost price of butterscotch icecreams for A, B, C = (50+120+210) *24 =
380*24 = 9120

SP of

A = 50*24*5/4 = 1500

B = 120*(24+10) = 4080

C = 210 * 24*5/6 = 4200

Profit = 1500+4080+4200 – 9120 = 660

Q3. Ratio = 770/5:750/5 = 77:75

Q4. Sum of butterscotch and vanilla of A and B = 50+120+200+30 = 400

Sum of mango and orange for B and C = 60+140+90+210 = 500

Difference = 500-400 = 100

Solutions:

Q1. Let the Marked Price (MP) of Mobile be ‘16a’, then

MP of Laptop = 16a *(17/16) = 17a

Cost Price (CP) of Laptop = 16a *(8/7) = 14a

Now, it is given that laptop is sold at a loss of 4.5%, so,

Selling Price (SP) of Laptop = 14a*(95.5/100) = 13.37a

Also given,

Discount on Laptop = 17a – 13.37a = 14520

= a = 14520/3.63 = 4000

So, MP of Mobile = 16*4000 = 64000

And, SP of Mobile = 64000-1280 = 62720

CP of Mobile = 62720*7/12= 36586(approx)

Q2. Let the Efficiency of P be ‘9u’, then of Q is = 9*8/9 = ‘8u’

And, Let the total work be ‘W’

Now,

{[40% of W]/9u} + {[60% of W]/8u} = 86

[2W/45u] + [3W/40u] = 86
43W/360u = 86

W = 720 u (Total Work)

Therefore, Time Taken by P to complete the remaining work will be

= [Total work – Work done by Q]/ efficiency of P

= [720u-(8u*45)]/9u

= 360u/9u = 40 Days

Q3.

Quantity I

The simple interest will be

= 13033*13%*3 = Rs.5082.87

The compound interest will be

= 13033{1+[13/100]}3 – 13033

=13033 {1+[13/100]3 – 1}

=13033*0.44 = Rs. 5772.28

So, CI – SI = Rs.689.41

Quantity II

We know in CI,

A = P(1+(R/100))n

So, 7000 = P(1+R/100)4 ------- Equation 1

And, 10000 = P(1+R/100)8 ------ Equation 2

Dividing Equation (2) by Equation (1), we have,

10/7 = (1+R/100)4

10/7 =7000P (From Eq 1)

P = 4900 Rs.

So Q1<Q2

Q4. Let the length, breadth and height of the room be ‘6u’, ‘4u’ and ‘2u’
respectively.

We know,

Area of 4 walls = 2(l + b) h

i.e., 2(6u + 4u) * 2u

= 40u2

When breadth and height are halved but the length is doubled, we have

Area of 4 walls = 2(12u + 2u)*1u = 28u2

Therefore, Area is decreased by {[40u2 -28u2]/40u2} = [12/40]*100 = 30% decrease

Q5. Milk in M = 87.5, Syrup = 87.5*5/7 = 62.5 L and Water = 250-87.5-62.5 = 100L
Ratio of Milk, syrup and water in M = 87.5:62.5:100 = 3.5:2.5:4 = 7:5:8
Similarly in N, Syrup =73.5 L, Water =73.5*4/7 = 42L & Milk = 150-73.5-42= 34.5L
Ratio of Milk, syrup and water in N = 17:11:12
To find the options that fit in the blanks, we take each option and solve them,
Option a
Water in 100L M = 100*[8/20] = 40L
Water in 50L N = 50*[12/40] = 15L
% of water in 250L of mixture is = {[40+15]/150}*100 = 55*100/150 = 36.66%

Similarly checking for b, c and d, we get that b and d fit in the blanks.

Solution:
Q1 ->
I: 14 is the wrong term
23 – 3 = 5 (12-7)
33 + 4 = 31(43-12)
43 -3 = 61 (104-43)
53 +4 =129 (233-104)
63 -3 = 213 (446-233)
II: 138 is the wrong term
+(𝟔𝟐+𝟔),+(𝟕𝟐+𝟕),+(𝟖𝟐+𝟖),+(𝟗𝟐+𝟗),+(𝟏𝟎𝟐+𝟏𝟎)

Now, a is correct as 4*31 = 124, b is incorrect as on dividing by 13 the remainder
