What is the denotative meaning of your chosen text? That is, identify/describe
its denotations, its 'literal' meanings (just what you actually see).

+) Image of a mustang: On the billboard, the car model used is the 2010 GT
Mustang coupe

+) Rear Tire Spinning: The ad features the rear of the Mustang spinning every
three minutes, mimicking the way the car "speeding on the street" by
generating motion and friction of the car's rear tire

+) Smoke from the car: The release of smoke each time the wheel rotates
represents the tire's spinning and the friction it creates.

 The significance of the Mustang flaming smoke billboard is

straightforward. A Ford Mustang automobile with a spinning back tire
emitting smoke as a result of motion and friction.
What are some connotative meanings of this text? That is, the feelings and
ideas it evokes, its personal and socio-cultural associations.

The connotative meaning of the above billboard image demonstrates the

power of the Mustang engine in general, as well as the power of the 2010 GT
Mustang coupe, which was reviewed as having "powerful acceleration and
great V8 soundtrack in GT trim, available Ford Sync system, good
performance."The billboard's connotative connotations include both personal
and socio-cultural links, and it is also quite simple to explain and grasp

What iconic, indexical, and/or symbolic signs are present? What is its level of
modality? Does it have an implied narrative? Does it rely on intertextuality to
construct meaning?

It implies that the Ford Mustang is a high-performance vehicle capable of
emitting smoke during a burnout, which associated with speed and
excitement. The implied narrative, on the other hand, is simple and does not
present a full tale or sequence of events.

+) The billboard ad does rely on intertextuality,it include the “speed” element

that refer to past Mustang advertisement. More particularly, the display of
"speed" - which appears to have become a trademark of Ford's Mustang line -
is presented on the billboard with the rear tire spinning and producing smoke,
as seen in several other advertising featuring a Mustang. depiction of a rear
tire spinning and producing smoke (1999, 2001 Ford Mustang commercials).
In a nutshell, it depicts the image of "speed," a benefit and attribute of the
Mustang series that is frequently depicted in ads.

Does it have captions that function as anchorage? How does it position or

address the audience? How does context influence its meaning? Does it use
metonymy?
Caption that appeared on the billboard:

1. "New 2010 Mustang Launched": This language acts as both a caption

and an anchor. It shows the customer the name of the product being
advertised with the claim that it is a new 2010 Mustang along with its
use. Using the word "unleashed" lets customers feel the "beast-like
power" of this new car model. The text confirms that this new car is a
high-performance car

2. "the2010mustang.com" is a website link, placing such a website link is

intended to increase interaction of curious customers about the 2010
Mustang, they can visit the link above to learn and get more
information about the new model.

3. "Ford drive one" The sentence is short and extremely easy to

understand as a message to customers that Ford doesn't just sell cars,
they sell experiences that customers should try, especially this new
Mustang model.

 How does it position or address the audience?

With the arrangement of very concise and easy-to-understand contexts

advertising product as well as provided links for customers who want
to learn more about the product as well as, provide a means for

 How does the context influence its meaning ?

In the billboard backdrop, the Ford emblem and the year "2010" imply
that the advertisement promotes the 2010 Ford Mustang, potentially
affecting viewers' perceptions of the car's capabilities and technology.

 Does it use metonymy?

The phrase "new 2010 Mustang" uses metonymy to equate the process
of being "liberated" with a car, meaning that the Mustang is a truly
powerful and beastly car (supported by the image of the rear wheel
smoking while spinning)
What ideologies are present in the text? Does it resist and/or reinforce these
ideologies? Be sure to observe what and how specific signs (signifiers +
signifieds) in the text convey these ideologies.

+) The idea stated in the preceding advertising is crystal apparent; it is

"confidence" not only of manufacturers but also of Mustang automobile
enthusiasts in the engine and "power" of the Mustang. This point of view has
been encouraged and supported by the billboard ad.
