CHRONICLE OF ROGELIO SALMONA

Rogelio Salmona was an arquitect that born in parís on april 28, 1927 and died on
october 3, 2007 in the city of Bogotá (Colombia).

His parents originating in thessalonica (Grecia). At the end of 1931, your family
traveled a Bogotá, where they lived definitely. He started his studies in the university
National of Colombia, where he studied three semester of Architecture, however due to
the riots on april 9, 1948 most popular like the Bogotazo, he returned to france where
he entered to work as a collaborator in the Ateller 35 rue of sevres of le corbuester.
His work is caracterized for beigin strongly linked to latín american culture. He stood
out for extensive use of brick and exposed concrete, featuring brutalist elements.
However, althoughthe material of its constructions is definitely by the place in which
they are located, also uses water as an connecting element.via channels, water
mirrors, pools and pods.

Among his most important Works, the towers of the park, the Gabriel Garcia marquez
cultural center, the general archive of the nation, the enviromental axis, the
postgraduate building the human sciencies of the university national and de Virgilio
Barco library. After this construction Rogelio Salmona he was awarder the Alvar Alto.

He was founder of fundation Pro-Ciudad, an organization that was responsable for the
protection and development of Bogotá and other Colombian cities.
