QUESTION ONE

Case Study

You have been engaged as a student on attachment in an organisation which is now


a shadow of what it was 10 years ago. Sales have gone down 70 percent in the last
10 years. It used to be a market leader in its industry, but it is now number ten.
Morale among staff has significantly gone down. But it seems the company’s
competitors are doing relatively well having harnessed the power of information
technology.

However, there is now a strong ‘felt need’ for change in the company. Having learnt
that you are studying Change Management at Exploit University, the Chief Executive
Officer invites you to his office. He tells you that he is planning to save the company
by bringing changes that will help the company increase sales by 15 percent within
the next two years and recover some customers it lost. He is also thinking of making
the company to be more responsive to constantly changing business environment.
Now the CEO wants you to help him with some ideas on how change can be planned
and implemented.

i. Please write a brief explanation of the process of change by using two of


your choice Kurl Lewin models of Planned change so that the CEO many
learn some concepts in Change Management

him what other tough decisions may need to be made in the company in
order to create a conducive environment that will quickly respond to
changes in business environment.
