I am writing in support of Mr. Vicky Wijaya in his application for Decentralized Energy System
(DENSYS) Program- EMDJD for master degree.
I have been knowing Mr. Vicky Wijaya since 2014 when he was accepted as an undergraduate
student of chemical engineering at Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). I was his academic advisor
during his study at the university until he graduated. He also became one of my lecture assistants on
Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics during his 5th semester in this department.
During his academic study, I had a great pleasure of seeing his growing performance in his
learning and understanding many aspects from the basic into the sophisticated ones. He was an active
student, taking many strategic roles in many organizations during this study, including head of internal
department in chemical engineering student’s union, head of the supporting department in Angklung
(Indonesia’s traditional music instrument), and project director of national scale project “live your
dreams”. Those experiences have equipped him with decent leadership skills. He also indulges himself in
many volunteering activities, including sustainable biogas projects, people for lupus, and music for
underprivileged children. As his academic advisor, I am honored to see him growing in both academics
and leadership. Besides being active in many organizations, he still performed well in his study. He
finished his research in converting cellulose-based waste into cellulose nanocrystals for nanotechnology
research and made in published in International Material Society Research in 2018, he also represented
the department in the Renewable and Tropical Energy conference in 2017, and perform as top 10 plant
design on a regional scale (South-east Asia) chemical engineering challenge in 2018. Finally, he
graduated as the most outstanding graduate in chemical engineering in October 2018.
Mr. Wijaya is a hard worker, self-motivated who is determined on striving for his goals even
amid incessant pressure. He is a discipline and responsible person who always manages his works
delivered well. He is also a very sociable person who can work in a team, his leadership experiences
speak itself for this.
Ultimately, as detailed above, based on my understanding as his advisor, I can unreservedly
recommend Mr. Vicky Wijaya to be allowed to pursue a master's degree at Decentralized Energy
System (DENSYS) Program- EMDJD. This study will strengthen his knowledge and equip him with
the skills in the energy field that will be brought back to the country as his contribution to this business. I
am sure that he will work very well.
