I am writing to you with regard to Ms. Erfika Maria Edelia who has requested me to write a
recommendation letter on her behalf. As a lecturer at the Institut Teknologi Bandung, I have interacted
with her quite intensively, both as student and as project mentee. During the time that I have come to
know her, I have observed how she was well adapted in absorbing new knowledge and applying it in
work. Moreover, she is enthusiastic in learning, especially in energy and technology field. From that
knowledge, I confidently recommend her for admission to your graduate program for the next coming
academic year.
Ms. Edelia had been a student in some of my classes, and in each of them, she managed to excel amongst
other students. In summer 2013, she was entrusted to me as project mentee in TOTAL E&P INDONESIE.
This project is our mandatory program for Chemical Engineering undergraduate student in compliance of
their degree, besides completing their thesis and designing chemical plant. Even though at that time she
has been offered a project at a chemical plant in the main island, she was determined to search for herself
a project of her passion. She did this independently, facing the high challenge of working at a
multinational company, in a faraway place she had never been before. I was well pleased when I was
informed that she was able to finish her job in 2-month period, even being one of the first students to
submit their report, without abandoning her ongoing thesis completion.
From her project experience in TOTAL E&P INDONESIE, I have taken an impression of her as a
sociable and easy-to-adapt person. She easily weave her way into making friend with other workers in her
office, even with expatriates and people much older than her. Often, she would involve in gatherings and
social events, even went as much as helping organizing them. Her field mentor specifically commented
how Ms. Edelia was a strong-willed worker, and praised her that despite her young age and limited
experience, she didn’t hesitate in taking part in the professional world.
It is for these reasons that I highly support Ms. Edelia’s decision in pursuing her education to a higher
level. I would very much like to see her continuing her study in your faculty. I have high confidence that
she would be an outstanding asset to your program. Even though she will face many challenges there, I
am sure that with her abilities, she would adapt well and success in progressing her knowledge and
becoming a professional.
