Letter of Recommendation
I am Abu Wasif, Assistant professor of Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Bangladesh
University of Engineering and Technology(BUET). I am writing for recommending Muhammad Ahad Ul Alam,
one of my best students for the position of Ph.D. student in your department. As I was his adviser from 2nd
semester to the end of his graduation, I know him since then. Moreover, he took my course “Numerical Methods”
in 5th semester.

Now, let me focus on BUET admission procedure. Each year, the best students of Bangladesh according to their
SSC and HSC examination are allowed to be seated for admission tests and nearly thousand students get selected
for admission. The exam is considered as the most difficult examination among universities admission in
Bangladesh. So it is required for the students to take rigorous preparation for several months to secure a position in
this reputed university. Each student is required to select their desired subject and their desired department is
assigned to them according to their choice based on their merit position. Ahad secured his admission to the
Department of Computer Science and Engineering which is the first choice of department among BUET students.

As I was his advisor, I had the opportunity to keep in touch with him, to advise him on his performance
degradation and to instruct him strategically. He registered for his courses regularly and successfully completed
every course in time. During his 4th semester, he missed some deadlines of assignments in Algorithm sessional
class due to his illness and became very frustrated thinking of the result of this phenomenon, even he thought of
retaking the courses in next semester. I suggested him to continue his course and do the next tasks very
sincerely.Then while semester result published, I saw that he performed a decent result in that course, even though
he missed some deadlines. This example illustrates his ability to turn around from any kind of worse situations.

Moreover, As a  course instructor, I had the opportunity to observe Ahad's academic integrity very closely. In my
class, Ahad was always disciplined, diligent, inquisitive and obedient throughout the course span. He was always
regular on submitting the assignments on time and his result in this courses is good especially in my section he did
well even though the question was more standardized than the normal that year.

Some of the mentionable virtues of Ahad are his eloquence in academic writing, his ability to present the gist while
communicating and his ability of analytical thinking. Besides having good academic credentials, he is an excellent
puzzle solver. He attended different puzzle contests and secured places in those competitions.

Now, this student of mine has decided to pursue Ph.D. degree from this reputed university. With Ahad’s close
attachment to me, given an opportunity, he will be able to prove his worth to the fullest. I, therefore, strongly
recommend Ahad for admission with possible financial assistance at your graduate without any reservation.
