Subject: Statement of Purpose for Studying at the University of South Australia in Melbourne,
Australia

Respected Visa Officer,

Greetings and thanks for giving me this opportunity to write a statement of purpose to support my
application. In addition to all my documents provided, I would like to take this opportunity to write a
statement of purpose to clarify the main reasons that drive me to study at the University of South Australia
for a Master of Engineering (LMCL) Civil and Infrastructure under the faculty of Engineering. I’m
interested in beginning a career in Civil Engineering and I’m very certain that this master’s program will
help me to fulfill in both professional and personal contexts. I’m confident that my strong academic
background and interest in Civil Engineering and its conversions make me a great fit for study in Australia.

Management has always required human touch and a lot of skills, unlike the other activities which could
be done by automation, hence it grabbed my attention since the beginning of my bachelor’s degree. I’ve
completed my BSc. In Civil Engineering (CE) as an undergraduate and now I want to collaborate all my
technical and practical resources with my management knowledge to attain a career in Civil Engineering.
This degree can also allow me to concentrate on some other fields like Supply Chain Management which
has recently picked my interest. Eventually, I’m eager to learn some cost-effective but appropriate technical
solutions which could help to improve people’s lives.

Physics and mathematics were my favorite subjects during high school. Later, I went for a diploma in civil
technology (4 years) at Dhaka Polytechnic Institute and secured a CGPA of 2.76 on a scale of 4.00. After
that, I completed my bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a CGPA of 3.10 out of 4.00 from the
European University of Bangladesh. While attending these institutions, I was astonished at how complex
the institutes operate in the engineering domain. The skills in planning, problem-solving skills, and required
leadership attributed to the need for the degree. These aspects helped me to recognize the crucial need for
appropriate managerial skills for a career boost and career development as well.

It's very challenging to study and lead engineering-driven organizations to growth and development, and
the most optimistic thing is a part of the inner I love to take on such challenges. It helps me to believe that
I can function best under pressure and due to this reason, I think this field of career is pretty suitable for me
as this requires people to be highly calm in great alarming, or crucial circumstances.

In all of my past institutions, I was a regular participant in extracurricular activities. I was a regular member
of the high school’s cricket club and participated in the inter-school championship throughout the year
2005-2009. I also won a number of prizes in some specific singing and creative writing competition as well.
I was also a regular activist of Team Shikho for the last couple of years, who’s given education to
unprivileged children in the suburbs of Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Each day as an engineer brings about new problems and I love finding creative, innovative, and efficient
solutions. Throughout my graduation years, I was constantly involved in activities that involved people’s
interactions and teamwork. It was thrilling each time I worked in a group and these events had taken place
during my corporate life too. As a result, I realized that management is my genuine calling for further
studies.

As I’m from a non-management background, I want to learn more about entrepreneurship and management
concepts. My short-term objective to choose this specific university is to learn proactively and to work for
a certain time span in any respective firm to gain the necessary industrial experiences and skills which
might help me to fulfill my long-term objective, which is to come back to my motherland and setting up
my own engineering firm.

After the above explanation, I think I’ve made my point of view very clear to you. As this institute offers
one of the best, most thorough, and most specialized programs in this area, I think these will help me to
understand the exact mix of business and engineering courses which is ideal to pursue the ultimate goal
I’ve stated above. The finishing touch that will take me closer to my dream plan is this degree. I hope the
institution recognizes my potential and allows me to take admitted into this specific curriculum.
