TASK PERFORMANCE ON GLOBAL HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT

1. What is the staffing policy that Lenovo is pursuing?

-Choosing personnel for specific positions is referred to as staffing policy. In essence, it serves two
objectives. First, it's done to fill open positions or acquire the necessary abilities for the duties at hand.
Second, the desired corporate culture of the company can be developed and promoted. In this case,
Lenovo is pursuing a geocentric approach to hiring that, regardless of nationality, looks for the best
candidates for important positions around the organization. For instance, Lenovo made an effort to
establish a company that was neither Chinese nor American, but rather global in orientation, a
corporation that is positioned to compete directly with other companies in the international PC market.

2. What strategy do you think the company is pursuing? Does its staffing policy match its strategy?

- Lenovo wanted to transform its business. Beyond the organization's routine business activities,
transformational strategy is used. Transformational strategy goes beyond the usual business operations
of the organization. It is a strategy that encompasses the organization's human resources, processes,
and technology. Transformational strategy requires radical changes to these key factors in order to cope
up with various external factors affecting the business. In these modern times, it is normal for an
organization to aim for a more global audience and Lenovo was no exception.

3. What are the strengths of Lenovo’s staffing policy? Can you see any potential weaknesses or problems
that the company might encounter as a result of this policy?

- Lenovo uses the same set of principles to guide workforce management in all locations, this maintains
a unified corporate culture. If Lenovo’s employees are predisposed toward the organization's corporate
norms and value system, the firm will be able to attain higher performance. Lenovo’s staffing policy is
complicated by the profound differences between countries in labor markets, culture, legal systems,
economic systems, and the like. On the other hand, Lenovo’s staffing policy is complicated by the
profound differences between countries in labor markets, culture, legal systems, economic systems, and
the like. The national immigration policies may limit its implementation and it could be more expensive
policy as well.

4. What should the HRM function do to enable Lenovo to become a truly global enterprise?

- Human resources will have to be very astute about how its principles are applied in every local market
so that it remains responsive to the needs of the people in different environments. lenovo is following a
geocentric approach to human resources, one in which the best people are sought for key jobs
throughout the organization, regardless of nationality. To do this, the business must create a culture
that values employee diversity and capitalizes on it. The main HRM tasks, including job analysis and job
descriptions, hiring and selecting employees, planning and developing the workforce, motivating
employees, conducting performance reviews, and paying employees, should be carried out to a world-
class quality. Along with these, the business must ensure that every employee receives the required
training and development to help them feel accomplished. As a result, I think that having these HRM
activities carried out effectively with the intention of improving on each of the HR policies can really help
the business achieve its competitive advantage.
