Solitaire Sequence of Play

(start on pg 231, 2000’)

1. Keep in mind movement restrictions. Choose a maneuver arrow and note the letter. Shuffle the Firing position cards for the Archie.
2. Locate the letter of the maneuver you chose. Turn to that End-Turn page and note the range and type of view from the cockpit.
3. Roll one die and consult the Archie Ranging Table. Apply +1 DRM if tracked. Cross-index the range in Step 2 with the die result to obtain
a page number or sighting letter. Cross index a sighting letter with the cockpit view to obtain a page number on the Flak Sighting Table.
4. In the German’s book, turn to the number from Step 3. This is the Archie End-Turn page. Note if Firing, Bounced or Tracking.
5. If the Archie page reads Firing, or Bounced, follow the Archie Firing Procedure and see if your plane has received a critical hit.
6. If the Allies book has guns blazing and no critical hits from step 5, you may fire on the balloon. Refer to gun tables included in the game.
7. If tracked, +1 DRM in Step 3 on next turn.
8. Check to see if there are any “Tell Pilot” restrictions in the German book. Apply these at the beginning of the next turn.
Archie Firing Procedure
At the beginning of the game roll 1 die, use the Balloon Defense Strength Table to determine the number and type of guns in the anti-
aircraft battery. Then, every Step 5 of the game turn:
1. Deal out the number of Firing Position Cards equal to the number of guns available. If a Flaming Onion is available, the last cards
dealt are designated Flaming Onions.
2. Roll one die and that result is compared to all the standard Flak cards to determine if there’s a critical hit. If a Flaming Onion is
present and on a Firing (not Bounced) page, roll a second die and compare the result to the Flaming Onion card.
