CY 2023 RDC Week Celebration

CHEERZUMBA MECHANICS & GUIDELINES

1. Schedule of activity
The competition will be held on September 28, 2023, at 9:45 AM, at the South
Cotabato Gym and Cultural Center, Koronadal City. The call time for the
participants is 9:15 AM.

2. Sequence of presentation.
The team captains of the four (4) Sectoral Committees shall draw lots to
determine the sequence of actual performance. Late teams, appearing beyond
the call time of 9:15AM shall be penalized by deducting 5 points from their total
score.

3. Team Composition
• Each participating Committee is entitled to only one (1) official group and
shall have a minimum of ten (10) and a maximum of twenty (20) male
and female cheerers.
• Performers should be occupying a plantilla position or under Contract
of Service (COS) and Job Order (JO) who rendered at least one year
of service.

4. Duration of Performance
The entire duration of the performance must not exceed eight (8) minutes,
exclusive of 30 seconds pre-setting and 30 seconds exit/pack-up and clean-up.
Any excess in performance time will have 3 points deduction per minute from
the total score.

5. The Routine Parameters:

• The routines are cheers, yells, and chants in a choreographed Zumba


movement. The evaluation of the cheering will not be judged as a stand-
alone element but rather as part of the overall impression category.
• Lines/lyrics of the yells and cheers must be relevant to the mandate and
function Committee they are representing or the celebration of RDC
week.
• Yells/cheers/chants must be delivered in live performance (not pre-
recorded).
• All routines must be appropriate for family viewing. Any vulgar or
suggestive movements, words, or body sounds may result in
disqualification.
• Participants must wear Zumba outfits of their choice. They are
encouraged to wear decent, festive, and colorful attires.
• Stunts, lifting, and tossing are strictly prohibited.
• Participating teams are given the free hand for their choice of body
sound and costumes however, all props (if any) must be cleared with the
Secretariat prior to the performance. Pyrotechnics and other similar
dangerous or hazardous props are strictly prohibited. There is a limit of
only two (2) hand-held “safe props” to be used by the performers (ex:
pompoms, flaglets, placards, banner/streamer)
• In the event that the performance is interrupted because of technical
reasons caused by the event equipment, facilities, etc. the team shall be
given the option to either resume the performance from where it stopped
or repeat the entire performance.
• Groups must submit their music (if they prefer to have one) to the
secretariat a day before the contest. Failure to submit will have 2 points
deduction from the total score.

6. Criteria for judging:


6.1. TECHNICAL SKILLS
a. Degree of difficulty 10 POINTS.
b. Dance technique 5 POINTS.
6.2. ROUTINE
a. Synchronization 10 POINTS.
b. Safety 5 POINTS.
c. Choreography 10 POINTS.
d. Energy and Projection 10 POINTS.
6.3. CHEER AND YELLS
a. Audibility and Volume 10 POINTS
b. Content (Relevance to RDC) 20 POINTS
6.4. OVER-ALL IMPRESSION
a. Audience Impact and participation 15 POINTS
b. Showmanship 5 POINTS
Total 100 points

7. A panel of judges shall determine the winners based on the aforementioned


criteria.

8. Any violation of the above mentioned rules may be used as a ground for
disqualification or otherwise cause the appropriate point deduction on the final
score. The decision of the panel of judges shall be final.
