Objective
 Apply and develop your knowledge and understanding of the Financial Statements of
Corporations and related components in accordance with the International Financial
Reporting Standards.
 Improve your research and analytical skills.
 Improve your written and explanatory skills.

Assignment Task
Form a group of 04 with your class mates. Maximum 4 students are allowed in each group.
Select two Corporations, one from the service sector and other from industrial sector which
are listed in “Muscat Stock Exchange” (MSX) and review the financial reporting made for
the financial year ended 31.12.2021.

Write a Report comparing the financial reporting of the two corporations addressing
recognition, disclosures and reporting of the following subject arears:

1. Financial Instruments
2. Lease Liabilities
3. Long Term Liabilities
4. Equity

Each group need to select different corporations from industrial and service sectors which are
different from other groups, with the consultation and approval of the course lecturer.

Muscat Stock Exchange has 114 companies classified into five main sectors namely financial,
mutual fund, industrial, Bonds and Services. You must download the Audited Financial
Statements for financial year 2021 and notes (Annual Report) from two corporations
representing one from services and other from industrial sector.

Marks Allocation:
1. Report:
MS Word File with the required details summarized with a word count of 2,000 words. All
members of the group will be given equal marks based on the overall marks for the report.
8 marks

2. Presentation:
PPT presentation of the report by the group with maximum of 10 slides for a time duration of
15 minutes. Each member of the group to present a section of the report. Marks will be given
for each member based on their presentation. 7 marks
Total Marks: 15

Methodology of the assignment

1. Students need to complete the Assignment in a group of maximum 4 students.

2. Only one soft copy should be submitted by each group via E-learning.
3. Use Arial Font style and font size should be 12. The margin is preferably: Normal. Line
spacing: 1.5
4. The soft Copy should be uploaded in E- Learning before the deadline by each group.
5. Any delay beyond the deadline shall not be accepted and a grade of F shall be placed for
the group.
6. The report will also be presented by each group jointly and severally in the class before
Finals.
7. Each Group will choose TWO companies from Muscat Security Market (MSX).
