AUTOBIOGRAPHY

My name is Ma. Catherine Avila. I was born on July 16, 2002 at Cebu Velez Hospital,
Cebu City, Philippines. I am the oldest child out of three siblings. My mother’s name is Misraym
Avila, who is currently 43 years old and my other siblings’ names are Mary Claire Avila and Paul
Miguel Avila who are currently 17 and 8 years old respectively. I have lost my father at a very
young age, particularly at 12, due to heart attack. Since then, our so perfect and contented life
became a mess and basically being the eldest of the family means to be the one who should
stand bravely and help the family to cope up. That is why, at the very young age I started to
learn how to fight the cruelty of so called LIFE.

With regards to my educational background, I studied in Danao City Central School

during my primary years, however, since I was such a spoiled brat back then because of my
father’s influence, I rarely accomplish any academic achievements. But during my secondary
years, in where I realized that I have to take my studies seriously since this is the only powerful
tool that I had to succeed, I begun to have recognition on my academic abilities. Basically, I
begun to exceed academically, wherein fact, as early as seventh grade, I immediately won 1 st
place Science Quiz Bowl - Division Level in Danao City as a first-timer contestant entering Quiz
Bowl Competition. Aside from that, I have also won 2 nd place in Newswriting Competition on
PressConference District Level, when I was on 9 th and 10th grade. And as for my senior years, I
won 2nd place in Math Quiz - Division Level all throughout Lapu-Lapu City and also graduated as
the Class Valedictorian in Bankal National High School – Senior High during academic year 2020
– 2021.

With my academic accomplishments during in my secondary and senior years, this had
made me believe that I am capable to have a job while in college. And so therefore, I applied as
a secretary in a Law Office and fortunately got in with the help of my teacher and uncle’s
referral. I was struggling at first on how to balance between my work and studies. But with great
determination and efforts, I was able to handle my job well, as well as exceed in my studies. I
was able to maintain my grade and have won 2 competitions already. Specifically, the Math
Olympiad 2022-2023 (2nd Place) and AIL Quiz Bowl 2022-2023, 1st place.

In conclusion, my journey so far has been filled with both challenges and
accomplishments. Despite the loss of my father at a young age, I have learned to be resilient and
take on the responsibilities of being the eldest sibling. This experience has shaped me into a
strong and determined individual. As I embark on the next chapter of my life, I am eager to
embrace new challenges, further develop my skills, and contribute meaningfully to society. I am
grateful for the opportunities that have come my way and look forward to continuing my
journey of growth and achievement.
