human health, and;
c. create a variety of ways how to prevent climate change

III. Procedure:
Teacher’s Activities Students Activities

A. Daily Routine
1. Prayer Class president: Our Father, who art in
Class president kindly leads the heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom
prayer. come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in
heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and
forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those
who trespass against us; and lead us not into
temptation but deliver us from evil.

2. Greetings

Good morning, grade 9!

Good morning, Sir JJ!
(Classroom management)

3. Checking of attendance
Class secretary do we have any
absentees for today? Secretary: There are no absentees for today
sir.

4. Drill

“Yes, No Stand-Up…”

Before we start let’s have an energizer. The

students will STAND if their answer is YES,
and the students will SEAT if their answer is
NO.

Essential question:

Did you take your bath this morning?

(Some students stand up because their answer
Did you brush your teeth?
is yes)
Did you eat your breakfast?

(Some students remain seated because their

answer is no)
B. Review

Before we start let’s have a recap of the past

lesson. Who among you can still remember
our last topic?

Yes, Paul john!

Sir our last topic is all about noise pollution.

That’s right Paul john!

Noise pollution is considered to be any

unwanted or disturbing sound that affects the
health and well-being of humans and other
organisms.

Essential question:

What are the different types of noise

pollution?

Yes, Kiko!

Sir the different types of noise pollution is

Transport, neighborhood, and industrial noise.

That’s correct Kiko!

C. Motivation

“Guess me what I am ”

Before we start our lesson for today let’s play

a simple game. I will provide different
pictures all you have to do is to identify what
words that picture represents.
Who would like to answer?

Yes, Angeline!

That’s correct Angeline!

Sir, I think that is climate.

For the second picture who would like to

answer?

Yes, Earl!

That’s correct Earl!

Sir, that is change!

What do you think is our topic for today?

(The class answer the question)

Sir, our topic for today is climate change!

D. Lesson Proper

Our topic for today is climate change. So,

what is climate change?

Climate change

 is a long-term change in the average

weather patterns that have come to
define Earth’s local, regional, and
global climates.

What is global warming?

 the rise in global temperatures due

mainly to the increasing
concentrations of greenhouse gases in
the atmosphere.
What is greenhouse effect?

 is the process by which radiation from

the sun is absorbed by greenhouse
gases and not reflected back into
space.

What are the causes of climate change?

1. Burning fossil fuel

• The burning of fossil fuels refers to

the burning of oil, natural gas, and
coal to generate energy.

2. Deforestation

 the clearing or thinning of forests by

humans. Deforestation represents one
of the largest issues in global land use.
Estimates of deforestation traditionally
are based on the area of forest cleared
for human use, including removing
trees for wood products, croplands,
and grazing lands.

3. Pollution

 also called environmental pollution, is

the addition of any substance
(solid, liquid, or gas) or any form
of energy (such as heat, sound,
or radioactivity) to the environment at
a rate faster than it can be dispersed,
diluted, decomposed, recycled, or
stored in some harmless form.

Did you get it class?

What are the effects of climate change?

4. Catastrophic Storm
• Catastrophic weather events
include hurricanes, tornadoes,
blizzards, and droughts, among others.
As these massively destructive and
costly events become more frequent,
scientific evidence points to climate
Yes, Sir JJ!
change as a leading cause.

5. Drought

• Rising temperatures caused by climate

change are making already dry regions
drier and wet regions wetter. In dry
regions, this means that when
temperatures rise, water evaporates
more quickly, and thus increasing the
risk of drought or prolonging periods
of drought.

6. Habitat Destruction

• Habitats around the world are

beginning to shift, shrink, melt, and
even disappear entirely from climate
change. Intense storms can destroy
nesting trees, drown animals, spread
invasive species, and damage aquatic
ecosystems. Unusual heat and
droughts stress plants and animals.

Is that clear class?

CLIMATE CHANGE IMPACTS ON

HUMAN HEALTH
Yes, sir JJ!
WAYS TO PREVENT THE CLIMATE
CHANGE

1. Save energy at home.

2. take a walk or use bicycle.

3. Reduce, reuse, repair, & recycle.

4. Change your home’s source of energy.

E. Valuing:

What do you think will happen if the major

causes of climate change will continue over
time?

Yes, Iverson!

F. Generalization:

“Cause and effect”

Based on our discussion what is the causes of

climate change?
Kindly give me one, Lheanne!

That’s correct Lheanne! Excellent!

Kindly give me another one, yes Charles! Sir, I think if the climate change will continue
over time there will be more deaths to come,
because of the effects of the climate change.

Ok that is right Charles! Good job!

For the last one kindly give me, Ron!

Good job, Ron that is right!

For the effects of climate change kindly give

me one, Kariss!

Sir, the cause of climate change is burning of

That’s right Kariss!
fossil fuel!

For another one, who would like to answer?

Yes, Mharkeim!

That’s right Mharkeim!

Sir, the cause of climate change is
deforestation!

For the last one, Yes Frank!

That is right Frank! Excellent!

So, class I see that you really learn our Sir the last cause of the climate change is
discussion for today. pollution.

G. Application:

I divide the class into two and, for your

activity you will create a slogan on how you
can combat climate change. You will be given
5 minutes to finish the activity. You will be Sir the effect of climate change is catastrophic
graded based on the criteria. storm!

Criteria:

Content – 40%

Neatness - 20%

Creativity – 20%

Uniqueness – 20%

100%

Sir, I think the possible effects of climate

change is drought sir!

Sir, I think the effect of climate change is

habitat destruction sir!

H. Evaluation:
On a ¼ sheet of paper, write CHANGE if the statement is correct, and write NOT
CHANGE if the statement is wrong.
