1. Please tell me about the types of voodoo that is practiced in Haiti.

Ans: There is some regional difference in ritual practice of voodoo in Haiti: Ginen, Petwo,
Kongo, Ibo, daome, Rada.

2. Does the practice voodoo in Haiti help or hurt the general population?
Ans: The population of Haiti is 30% Protestant and 70% Catholic. 60% out of 70% are considered
to be voodooist; they said to be catholic, it’s a way to hide their belief in voodoo.
According to the 70% of the population, the practice of voodoo can help them, can bring great
benefits. It reaffirm their relationships with ancestors. The practice of voodoo, used to cure
sickness, used for protection, to find love, increase wealth.
According to the 30% of the population that are protestant, the practice of voodoo doesn’t help
because it’s always seen as a practice involving magic, it’s used to cast spell on people, to do a
lot of negative things. It’s also seen as something that hurt the general population, because
voodoo practitioners are influenced by demonic forces and made a deal with the devil.

3. Have you ever personally witnessed a voodoo ceremony or casting of a spell?


Ans: I remember witnessing a voodoo ceremony. I was around 10 years old. I went to Grand
Goave ( where my mother from) to spend the summer vacation with my grand parents. I
witnessed a voodoo ceremony performed by ti Kod that was the guy name, by the way he was
my grandmother’s brother. Of course he was not a Christian, only him out of my grand mother
10 siblings didn’t make peace with Jesus, He was a well-known voodoo priest << Ougan>>. The
ceremony began with 3 drummers playing syncopated rhythms, multiples ladies dressing in
white were dancing a dance (called rada), and then tikod (ougan) started drawing symbols with
a white powder. Finally they called out the loa (spirit). When the loa came down, they slit the
throat of a Billy goat then started to drink the blood. Every one of the ceremony took a sip of the
blood. It was repugnant to watch, so I left.

4. Why do you think Haitians practice voodoo? The island has experienced trauma through political
upheaval and natural disasters. Do Haitians think they can improved things with voodoo?
Ans: Haitians practice voodoo so that they can honor their ancestors, so they can cast spell on
other people , raise the chance of getting a sugar daddy, protect themselves, to kill others. They
also practice voodoo so they can be wealthy. 60% of Haitian think they can improve things with
voodoo. They think voodoo can cure, Can get them to find a visa, can increase their business,
and can get them to find many a rich man or a rich woman.

5. Has anyone in Haiti ever tried to inspire you to practice?


Ans: Anyone has never tried to inspire me to practice voodoo. As a Christian I don’t believe in
loa. I see voodoo as a bad thing.

6. In your opinion, what is the hope for the future of Haiti?


Ans: In my opinion the hope for the future of Haiti is a change of Haitian mindset a call for
everybody to reunite. Haiti is a divided contrary then let God reign on this little island.
7. Would the average Haitian be happy that Susie is doing her work on the Island? Or would they
resent that she is there trying to help?
Ans: I know for sure not all Haitian do like when people are doing positive things in a
community. From my experiences working with “the blan” I know for sure the average Haitian
would be happy that Susie is doing her work in Haiti. I personally appreciate what she is doing in
my country. I take my hat off to her.

8. Please tell me about yourself in your background. Where were you born in educated? What is
your own faith background?
Ans: my name is Marc Arthur Lange I was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti in October 28 th 1984. I
grew up in a single parent home. My mother was always my superhero. My father was not
present. I hated him, never wanted to talk to him. Until one day I met with the Savior Jesus
Christ my life has changes and decided to make peace with my father then I started going to visit
him.
I am married I have a beautiful wife, I went to Centre Universitaire Maurice Laroche. I studied-
Accountant, Management and Administration. I studied English and Computer at haitiano
America Institute.
I joined the Haitian children on January 2022. I have been at Christian for more than 15 years. I
believe God has sent his only son to die on the cross so that I can have eternal life.

9- What is the single most urgent need for change in Haiti?


Ans: The single most urgent need for change in Haiti is: a change of Haitian mindset.
