Narrative Report

In accordance with Republic Act No. 10121, commonly known as the Philippine
Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010 (PDRRM Act of 2010), the National
Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) mandated a Nationwide
Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED).

Bagong Silang Elementary School participated in the Third Quarter Nationwide

Simultaneous Earthquake Drill on September 7, 2023. This activity strengthens its
preparedness and response capabilities in the face of a major earthquake. This simulation
exercise provides an opportunity for various disaster response units to demonstrate their
ability to coordinate and execute their respective roles and responsibilities.

The drill witnessed the concerted efforts of faculty members, staff, and learners.
Participants engaged in a rigorous execution of the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” technique,
followed by a systematic evacuation of buildings. The exercise also included an evaluation of
the school’s emergency response capabilities, supervised by the School’s Disaster Risk
Reduction and Management team headed by Mr. Ariel D. Punzalan

This event is part of a series of NSEDs scheduled throughout the year, aimed at
promoting a culture of preparedness for natural disasters, particularly earthquakes.
