spaghetti recipe

Ingredients:

 8 ounces (about 225 grams) of spaghetti

 2 tablespoons olive oil
 3-4 cloves of garlic, minced
 1 can (28 ounces) of crushed tomatoes
 1 teaspoon dried basil
 1 teaspoon dried oregano
 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to your spice preference)
 Salt and black pepper to taste
 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped (for garnish)
 Grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for serving)

Instructions:

1. Cook the Spaghetti:

o Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
o Add the spaghetti and cook according to the package instructions until it's al dente
(usually about 8-10 minutes).
o Drain the spaghetti and set it aside.
2. Prepare the Sauce:
o In a large skillet or saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
o Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, or until it becomes fragrant.
Be careful not to let it brown or burn.
3. Add the Crushed Tomatoes and Seasonings:
o Pour in the can of crushed tomatoes and stir well.
o Add the dried basil, dried oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper.
o Reduce the heat to low, and let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring
occasionally. This will allow the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken.
4. Combine the Sauce and Spaghetti:
o Once the sauce is ready, add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet.
o Toss the spaghetti in the sauce until it's well coated. You can add a splash of pasta
cooking water if you want to adjust the consistency of the sauce.
5. Serve:
o Transfer the sauced spaghetti to serving plates or a large platter.
o Garnish with chopped fresh basil leaves.
o If desired, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top before serving.

Enjoy your homemade spaghetti! You can also customize this recipe by adding cooked ground
meat, sautéed mushrooms, or other ingredients of your choice to the sauce.
