Conference to the Province


Dear Confreres,
Warm greetings to you all. We are in the Holy Week in preparation for the Easter
Festivities. Right from the outset, I would like to wish you all a blessed week and a
Very Happy Easter. We pray that the risen Christ transforms our lives to be totally at
his service.
News to the Province
1. Fr Leonard Muli is finally in India for the intervention. We pray a successful
surgery and quick recovery. I would like to thank all those who have been part of
the preparation to go to India. I would like to single out Fr Augustine Sellam, Fr
David Nduati and the Upper Hill Community. I welcome a short report from Fr
Augustine.
2. The animation for the consultation for Provincial Superiors and their teams has
come to a conclusion. Fr Michael Karikunnel is finally back to Upper Hill. I would
like to thank all the confreres for the maximum cooperation you gave. We now
look forward to the eventual appointment of the two teams for both AFE and
TZA provinces.
3. I have launched the consultation for rectors of communities for the two
provinces. I invite you to kindly participate in this exercise. You could do this
within this week in preparation for the council meeting on April 11 th, 12th, 13th
and 15th. Moshi and Utume communities will also be presenting the applications
for the confreres both renewal of vows and for the perpetual profession.
Admission to the ministries for confreres in Utume will also be done during the
council meeting.
4. The Lord continues to bless our province with new priests. This year we shall
have Francis Kibe (April 14 th), Hydeman Mrosso (April 22nd), Demos Kuku (April
30th)?, Isaiah Mwango (May 5th), Francis Anthony and John Nzau (May 12 th) and
Chihiro Morito (September 2nd). Two candidates are yet to be admitted. These
are Albert Mapesa and Deusdedit Eliezer Nzota. We keep all these confreres in
our prayers as they go through the final stages of their preparation.
5. Diaconate Ordination in Utume will take place on May 22nd. It will be a Monday.
6. We continue to pray for parents and close relatives of our confreres who are
sick. A good number of us have parents, brothers and sisters and other family
members who are sick. Let us keep them all in our prayers.

7. We offer our condolences to Brother Stephen Juma and Father Nicodemus
Ombworo who have lost their sisters. We pray for the eternal rest to them and
pray for consolation to the bereaved.
Salesian Devotion to Mary Help of Christians
The Constitutions and Regulations of the Society of St Francis de Sales speak
extensively about the presence of Mary, Mother of Jesus in the life of our society
and the Salesian Family. The themes treated in the different articles of the
constitutions and regulations are the following:
1. Mary in the foundation of our Society – Constitution 1
2. The presence of Mary in our Society – constitutions 8 and 20
3. Mary as the principal patroness of our Society – Constitution 9
4. Mary in the work of evangelization – constitution 34
5. Mary in the Salesian life and prayer – constitutions 84, 87, 92 and regulations

7. Mary as a model for pastoral work – constitutions 20, 92, 98
8. FMA and the Marian dimension of Salesian charism – regulation 37
I have also sent another document entitled “Don Bosco and Mary Help of
Christians” for your extra reading
As a province, we would like to give external expression of our devotion to Mary
Help of Christians the Marian Congress organized to take place on June 27 th to July
1st. Good plans are underway. My appeal to you and the communities is that we
animate ourselves and people around us to respond to this invitation and
participate in large numbers.

3. Masses for the Intention of the Provincial – Upanga, Makalala, Korr,
treatment of confreres and journeys
a. Gregorian Mass – was done in November 2022 (20 @ Euro 300)
b. Novena Masses – Easter Monday + Volunteers for extra novena Mass
through the rectors (160 novena Masses @ Euro 81)
c. Ordinary Masses – 1200 @ Euro 8. I would like to thank you very much
for your participation.
d. The total amount received from Aid to the Church in Need was Euro
28,560 which is close to Ksh 3,000,000.00
