Course Title : Supplementary Studies and Exercises on Professional Education

Pre-requisite (s) : None

Credit Units : 3 units

Course Description : This course provides supplementary studies on different dimensions of education and enhance the students on the four pillars
of education, prepare them for intercultural communication, and have the deeper understanding about the education for peace.
Also, it aims to evaluate cultural changes and social institutions. Moreover, they will be adept with gender and development,
globalization and education, education in the new social milieu and education for sustainable development.

Graduates of BSED programs are teachers who:


a. demonstrate basic and higher level literacy, communication, numeracy, critical thinking, and learning skills needed for higher learning;
b. display deep and principled understanding of the learning processes and the role of the teacher in facilitating these processes in their students;
c. demonstrate deep and principled understanding of how educational processes relate to larger historical, social, cultural, and political processes;
d. display a meaningful and comprehensive knowledge of the subject matter they will teach;
e. apply a wide range of teaching processes skills (including curriculum development, lesson planning, materials developments, educational assessment, and
teaching approaches);
f. experience the real world of teaching in the field through classroom observations, teaching assistance and practice teaching;
g. demonstrate and practice the professional and ethical requirements of the teaching profession;
h. facilitate learning of diverse types of learners, in diverse types of learning environments, using a wide range of teaching knowledge and skills;
i. reflect on the relationships among the teaching process skills, the learning processing in the students, the nature of the content/subject matter, and the broader
social forces encumbering the school and the educational processes in order to constantly improve their teaching knowledge, skills and practices;
j. create and innovate alternative teaching approaches, and evaluate the effectiveness of such approaches to improve student learning; and
k. pursue life-long learning to better fulfill their mission as teachers.
