 ORAL LORE
• The Pre-Colonial Period This existed before the Spanish occupation in the
1500s. It is oral in nature and is full of lessons and ideas about life, its
blessings, and its consequences. It contains ideas from birth to the grave.
• It is also know known as Oral Tradition. It is a type of human
communication where in knowledge, art, ideas and cultural materials is
received, preserved and transmitted orally from one generation to another.

RIDDLES
 RIDDLES a.k.a BUGTONG
• These are short question-answer statements.
• It is an indirect presentation of an object, by stating characteristics,
features or peculiarities, enough to call it to mind without naming it.
 Example of Riddles
• Maliit pa si kumara marunong ng humini.
• Sa maling kalabit may buhay na kapalit
• Sa buhatan ay may silbi sa igiban ay walang sinabi
• Nagbibigay na sinasakal pa.
• Ayan na si kaka pabuka bukaka.
• Kay lapit lapit na sa mata di mo ap rin makita.
• Umupo si itim, sinulot ni pula, lumabas si puti bubuga-buga.
• Nang bata pa ay apat ang paa. Nang lumaki ay dalawa. Nang tumanda ay
tatlo na.
• May ulo’y walang buhok, may tiyan walang pusod.
• Matanda na ang nuno di pa naliligo.

 PROVERBS a.k.a Salawikain
• They are short pithy sayings in general use, stating general truths or pieces
of advice.
• Is a shirt sentence that people often quote, which gives advice or tells
something about life.
• They are rich sources of imagery and concise expressions.
 Examples of Proverbs
• Walang lumura sa langit na di sa kanyang mukha nagbalik.
• Maraming salita, kulang sa gawa.
• Pagka may tyaga, may nilaga.
• Kung anong itinanim syang aanihin.
• Ang taong nagigipit, sa patalim kumakapit.
