PRODUCT(S) AFFECTED:
Sunn T50C
(U.K. use only)
SYMPTOMS:
Nuisance blowing of mains fuse in the U.K. on units wired for 230V
CONDITION:
The mains wiring needs to be changed to compensate for high mains input voltage.
An additional fuse must be installed in the tube filament circuit, which allows the mains fuse
to be increased in value. The higher value mains fuse will prevent nuisance blowing.
PARTS REQUIRED:
REQUIRED ACTION:
1)Remove chassis.
TECH NOTE # TN2k-4 PAGE: 2 OF 3
2)Convert power transformer primary wiring to higher voltage operation. This can be
accomplished by connecting the transformer primary leads as follows:
3)Lift power xfmr secondary green wire @ P54; Install inline fuseholder assembly between
green wire and P54; tie wrap inline fuseholder assembly to wire bundle (see photos 1 & 2)
4)Remove T1A mains fuse label @ F1; apply T2A mains fuse label @ F1.
5)Remove T1A mains fuse F1; install T2A mains fuse F1.
7)Remove bias cover box, turn power on and warm up amp (minimum 5 minutes), then
engage standby switch and adjust bias: set bias control to obtain 30mV between bias test
jacks V8 & V9 (gnd. & V10 jacks); set balance control to obtain 0mV between bias test
jacks J7 & J9 (V9 & V10 jacks); replace bias cover box.
The above modification applies only to Units shipped to the U.K. Do not submit warranty
claim forms in the U.S.
