POST STRUCTURALISM ANALYSIS

Post structuralism is a philosophical movement that emerged in the 1960s as a critique

of traditional philosophy, literature, politics, art, cultural criticism, history, and sociology.
Post structuralism sees the collective works of literature as an interconnected network of
derived meaning, as a counter to Structuralism's formulaic framework.

This movement was supported by Jacques Derrida , who was backed by a number of
authors, including Robert Barthes, whom the writer of the book “Death of the Author”. For
him, the author is merely a participant in the time's existing discourse, a mere explorer of
current ideas and literary systems. Derrida exposed basic problems with structuralisms that
were well-known at the time, creating a special need for himself and other scholars to carve
out a new niche known as post structuralism.

The author is dead, meaning is not fixed, philosophy of absence, no relationship

between signifier and signified, no binary opposition, and writing is superior to speech are all
characteristics that reject the concept of structuralism. It encourages a way of looking at the
world that challenges what comes to be accepted as “truth” and “knowledge”.

Post structuralism opens up all of life's possibilities, as well as doors for innovation
and change.
