Reflection #3: Tourism and Consumer Behavior

One thing I recall is that, according to the reporter, key factors that have an impact
on consumer behavior are identified by tourism marketing scholars as follows:
motivations, culture, age and gender, social class, lifestyle, life cycle, reference groups,
personality, and self-concept. Consumer behavior refers to the actions people do when
looking for, choosing, utilizing, assessing, and discarding goods and services to satiate
their needs and desires. Purchase decisions, particularly for tourism-related goods, are
typically made following a thorough and lengthy process of information research, brand
comparisons, and analysis. Products related to tourism are too expensive to be
purchased on a whim. As a result, options are carefully considered before making a final
decision. This chapter will teach us that there are numerous elements besides simply a
product's pricing that might affect a consumer's decision to buy anything.

The one concerning motivation is the one that I got the best. When I was a
student, I thought that someone with the ability to understand how motivation works
would have an advantage over others. One can truly design the environment to influence
the purchase if they can identify what makes people make a purchase. As evidence for
this, Maslow's hierarchy of needs is the most well-known theory of motivation since it
can clearly and simply rank the various requirements that exist in humans according to
their relative importance. The following are these motivations such self-actualization,
physiological safety, belongingness, esteem, and status. Basic requirements for survival,
such as the need for food and water, are referred to as physiological demands. Safety is
the term used to describe one's level of actual and imagined security. The concept of
belonging describes acceptance in social groups. The desire for status and prestige is
referred to as esteem. The pursuit of self-fulfillment is referred to as self-actualization.
Maslow ranked needs according to their level of importance because they are prioritized
because there are only so many resources available. The possibility that higher level
needs will be addressed increases with resource availability. In large part, travel and
tourism are demands of a higher kind.

As a student, I genuinely feel that motivation is important because it gives us the

drive and energy to create and achieve goals while also cultivating a sense of purpose
and resolve. It gives people the ability to overcome obstacles, stay focused, and
advance both personally and professionally. As an illustration, right now we are taking
the prelims exam, and my family and dreams are what motivate me to finish the prelims
with a good score. In addition, this coming Wednesday is allowance day, so I may enjoy
myself and my friends after the exam.
