DAY OBJECTIVE/S TOPIC/S CLASSROOM-BASED ACTIVITIES HOME-BASED ACTIVITIES
1. Identify nail A. Reviewing Previous Lesson or Presenting the New Lesson
structure and shapes
1

Nail
structure  Are you aware that our nail is composed of different parts?
 If yes, can you name some parts that you already know?
and shapes
 Do you know that our nail has external and internal parts?
 Do you know how important those parts?

Let the students compute and analyze the indicated mathematical operation. Find
out the corresponding letter from
the alphabet and discover the word being formed.
C. Presenting example/instances of the new lesson

The teacher will present a video presentation about the nail structures and
parts. Let the students take notes of
important learnings that they may get from the video presented.

D. Discussing new concepts

In each respective grouping, based on the video presented by the
teacher let the students label the parts of the Nail
2 diagram drawn in their respective cartolina.

E. Continuation of the discussion of new concepts

The Teacher will ask a representative from each group whom will have
draw lots of paper strips with written description/meaning of each nail part.
They will analyze which part of nail it corresponds and they will post it on their
respective Nail Diagram.

F. Developing Mastery
Each group will present their respective outputs in front class.

G. Finding practical applications of concepts and skills in daily living
After learning about your nail structure and parts, how will you give proper care
3 to achieve healthy and strong nails?

H. Making generalizations and abstractions about the lesson

I. Evaluating learning
4 A.
Directions: Identify the structure of the nail being described in each number.
1. ___________ the part of the nail where the nail plate rests on, also a
continuation of the matrix. It is abundantly
supplied with blood vessels and nerves, having numerous parallel ridges which
dovetail exactly with the ridges on
the under surface of the nail plate.
2. ___________ the part of the nail that can be filed and shaped. It is an
extension of the nail plate that overlaps the
hyponychium.
3. ___________ is visible nail that rests on the nail bed up to the free edge. This
is made up from dead cells and
minimum amount of moisture. The nail is semi-transparent – allowing the color
of blood supply of the dermis to
show.
4. ___________ the overlapping epidermis around the nail. It is the transparent
skin, which is called the 'true
cuticle', that is removed during the manicuring process.

5. ___________ the only living reproducing part of the nail. This is situated
directly below the cuticle. New cells
form here and continually pushes towards to produce the nail plate. It also
contains blood vessels and nerves. Blood

supply provides the cells with nourishment. If the matrix is damaged the nail will
grow deformed.
6. ___________ the folds of skin that overlap the sides of the nail. They hold
your nail in place and protect the nail
plate edges.
7. ___________ the pearly coloured and crescent shaped is due to the cells being
pushed closely together, the blood
capillaries cannot be seen through the lunula because of this.

B.
Draw the nail structure with corresponding parts. (10 Pts.)
