Coaching Philosophy

I coach to create a learning environment in which young people grow as individuals

and players, where bonds are formed and leadership, success and commitment are
expressed through the love of the game. I want to coach because I want to help the youth excel
on and off the field. I was lucky enough to have an amazing coach who helped me become the
man I am today. I want to have that same opportunity; the opportunity to be a great role model
and help mold my athletes into successful individuals who get to benefit from my shared values.
I heavily value athletics; I value athletics for the ability it has to bring diverse groups of
people together towards a shared goal of commitment and success. I value athletics for the
opportunity it gives individuals to push themselves both mentally and physically. I value
athletics for the important life lessons it imparts, which individuals can apply in real-world
situations, fostering personal growth in the process. My coaching style is a very task-oriented
style where everything has purpose, each drill, discussion, and session has a meaningful
connotation. I strive to have an inclusive, uplifting, team-based environment in which motivates
my athletes to be successful. I aim to have a heavy trust-based relationship with players, parents,
staff, community, and officials. Where open communication, collaboration, and respect are
essential.
My coaching philosophy aligns well with the NYS Athletic Framework Mission
Statement and the “4 c’s” of competence, character, civility, and citizenship. By having a task-
oriented coaching style with purposeful drills and sessions, I am actively promoting competence
in my athletes. With my aspirations of having a trust-based relationship with my athletes it
promotes character by encouraging accountability, responsibility and most definitely
trustworthiness. Civility is covered within my coaching philosophy by the emphasis of open
communication which covers respect, fairness and being caring. My philosophy touches on the
citizenship category by my commitment to being a role-model and coaching for the growth of
young individuals promoting qualities like teamwork and loyalty.
In conclusion my coaching philosophy reflects my undoubtful commitment to the growth and
success of young athletes. I believe in creating an inclusive environment where each and every
individual has the opportunity to be great. Athletics are an amazing opportunity for youth to
learn leadership skills, the importance of teamwork, commitment, and a drive to succeed.
Ultimately it allows individuals to be a part of something bigger than themselves. Being a coach
is an incredible opportunity to positively mentor the youth. It is an honor to play a pivotal role in
shaping the next generation.
