Time Lesson Notes


6:00 – Computer Literacy
6:30  The first five minutes will introduce the class.
Go over the tasks for tonight and any
business that needs to be addressed.
 The students have the choice between:
o NoRedInk
o SkillsCanada
o Typing.com
o ReadTheory
o Quill.org
6:30 – Listening  TED Talk for a later class I
7:00  How to improve your handwriting HERE found: HERE
 Give the students graph paper for this
exercise. Graph paper can be printed from
HERE
 Have the students write out the tips in the
video, during or after.
 Give the students examples on the board
afterwards based on your writing bad habits.
 Have the students practice the following
sentence over and over again on their lined
paper, aiming for neater and neater
sentences: The quick brown fox jumps over
the last dog. You can point out this sentence
contains every letter of the alphabet.
7:00 – Speaking
7:30  Conversations 3
 Using the same list of topics as before, the
students will speak to one another about
these topics.
 HERE are the topics. We will be starting with
topic 11: Crime!
 The students have 3 minutes to converse,
then rotate the partners, starting with the
inside group moving to the right.
7:30 – Reading  Copy exercise 44
8:00  Timed Reading  Make 15 copies
 Remind the newer student of the format of  Be sure to put up the online

 The students have up to 5 minutes to read
the passage, and the rest of the time to
complete the questions on the back side of
the page.
 Several students will finish this activity in the
first 5 minutes. These students are
encouraged to work on their digital literacy
tasks to fill the time.
8:00 – Writing
8:30  Essay Structure
 Today they will work on the conclusion of the
essay. They will continue the topic from
yesterday.
 Refer to the handout given yesterday.
 Have the students watch the video HERE
 The students will fill out the third part of the
work pages as a group afterwards.
8:30 – Bonus Assessment/Goals Work
8:50  Students will have the opportunity to work
toward their Bonus Assessments here.
 They should have chosen their bonus
assessment in a previous class.
 This time may also be used as “spill-over”
time for the Writing section of class.

8:50 – Final thoughts, class questions, hand-out homework Homework (if any):
9:00 assignment
 If there was a topic that was discussed today
that you feel needs a little more focus or
time, take this time to go over that concept
again.
 Ask the class if they have any questions
related to today’s class; it may take some
probing or leading questions to get them
started.
 If there is homework, hand it out now.
 This is also overflow time for if sections of
the class go long.
