3) BRAZING AND EVACUATION

3.1 Brazed joints should only be made while purging Nitrogen through pipework.
3.2 Leave shut-off valves closed during evacuation and DO NOT PURGE pipe work with refrigerant that is charged in the outdoor unit.
3.3 Indoor unit and interconnecting pipe work must be evacuated to a minimum of 500 microns, this should be achieved in 30-90 mins.
depending on system size, pipe length and vacuum pump capacity.
3.4 Install or replace filter drier when a repair is carried out in the refrigeration syatem as per ActronAir ® procedure.

4) OPENING SHUT-OFF VALVES

4.1 Liquid line shut-off valve (A). Remove cap, insert wrench key and turn anti-clockwise until fully open. Place cap back on and tighten.
4.2 Gas line shut-off valve (B). Remove cap, turn tap anti-clockwise 90o until fully open. Place cap back on and tighten.

5) REFRIGERANT CHARGE
5.1 No additional refrigerant is required for pipe lengths less than the pre-charged length, as shown on the chart above.
5.2 Check operating pressures and temperatures, if required adjust charge.
5.3 Must be liquid charged when adding refrigerant.
NOTE: Periodic Maintenance inspections should be carried out to minimise possible refrigerant emissions.
It is important to work with absolute system’s cleanliness.
WARNING: It is an offense to vent/release R410A into the atmosphere. Reclaim the refrigerant into a container dedicated for R410A only.

6) ELECTRICAL FOR COMPLIANCE WITH QUEENSLAND

MUST BE INSTALLED BY A
6.1 Make sure all wiring is in accordance with local electricity authority wiring regulations. ELECTRICAL SAFETY REGULATIONS 2002

PACKAGE UNITS

1) ELECTRICAL FOR COMPLIANCE WITH QUEENSLAND

ELECTRICAL SAFETY REGULATIONS 2002 DI Y
DI MUST BE INSTALLED BY A
LICENSED ELECTRICIAN
This refers to electrical works only

1.1 Make sure all wiring is in accordance with local electricity authority wiring regulations.
1.2 Check indoor fan amps DO NOT EXCEED rated amps (see indoor rating label).
1.3 THREE PHASE MODEL A) Check all three phases have 400 - 415 Volts (-6% to +10%) between all phases.
B) Check all single phases have 230 - 240 Volts (-6% to +10%) between active to neutral.

2) INDOOR COIL DRAINS

2.1 A drain line trap must be fitted to prevent air movement in the drain pipe.
2.2 The trap height should be not less than 40mm.
2.3 Adjust the level of the unit to ensure that the condensate water drains from the drip tray.

3) MAINTENANCE

3.1 The refrigeration components and pipe work must be inspected periodically for leaks to minimise refrigerant emissions.
3.2 Drain traps and drain trays must be cleaned and/or cleared periodically to prevent drain blockages and ensure system cleanliness.
3.3 Electricals must be periodically checked to prevent hot joints that may cause system failure.
3.4 Ensure air filters are cleaned and/or replaced periodically to ensure system cleanliness and performance.

4) SYSTEM CHARGE

Temperatures listed below are a guideline for correct system charge. Values may vary under
different operating conditions and are to be taken after a 15 minutes system’s continuous
operation.

(T1) is measured on compressor dome = 650C to 900C.

(T2) is measured where suction line enters = Same as suction line temperature.
(T3) is measured on lower portion of compressor = 100C to 500C.

Note T1 - Temperature on top of compressor dome must be hot.

(A warm discharge pipe out of compressor dome indicates over charged.)

Note T2 - If this temperature is same as T3, system may be undercharged.

Note T3 - If this area is cold or sweating, system may be overcharged.

(except when system is close to de-ice or is de-icing. T1 & T3 may become colder than normal values.)

Note: Periodic maintenance inspections must be carried out to minimise possible refrigerant emissions.

INSTALLATION GUIDE
REFRIGERANT FILTER DRIER SPECIFICATIONS

Background

Liquid line filter driers in air-conditioning system are highly recommended in order to remove harmful elements
from the circulating refrigerants and lubricants that may cause damage to the unit. No matter how much precau-
tions are taken during assembly and installation or servicing of a system, contaminants can still end up into the
system. These contaminants can be solid, such as metal swarf, flux, dust and dirt. Equally menacing are soluble
contaminants, such as water, acid and wax. Organic acids, which are severely harmful contaminants, can form
or generate inside the circuit through decomposition, chemical reaction and hydrolysis of the refrigerants, lubri-
cants and foreign substances in air-conditioning system. Excessive temperatures are the major factor that can
accelerate the process of acid generation. It is important that any generated acid is adsorbed as soon as it is
formed in the system. Likewise, solid contaminants need to be filtered and contained within the circuit.
