Learners’ error should be corrected as soon they are made to prevent the formation of bad
habits. Based on this popular, state if you agree or disagree with the idea. Give your opinion
on the idea and suggest teachers should do to reduce students’ error and implications.

Learners’ error is something common that always happens to everyone’s daily

routines and so to the native speaker. So by the previous statement I made, with all due
respect I disagree that learners’ error should be corrected as soon they are made to prevent the
formation of bad habits. This is because it will slowly familiarize the learners’ to be always
relying on other to be corrected by other people every single time they make mistakes and
that will make them hard to do the self monitoring of their speech.

How does that happen exactly? It is mainly because their mindset will be set to rely
on others to correct their mistake they did in normal conversation or formal presentation.
Especially to those who are grownups already, relying on others are not something that
should be normalized among them since they have to learn how to be independent and stand
alone without having anyone’s help. But of course we still do need lecturers to guide us but
as learners, we have to search and figure out our own mistakes then we will find them for
help. But needing their help to search our own mistakes is totally not ideal for someone who
is already at the age that can correct and mature themselves. And figuring out your own
mistakes naturally is more effective when it comes to learning since at the same time it will
grow your soft skills and the way how you think to solve a problem that you are facing.

Not only that, one more reason that lead me to disagree of the statement given in the
instruction is it will demotivate learners’ spirit to learn about language and speech so
certainly we have to avoid from this happening before it will become worse if we keep
turning into blind eye and be someone who is pretentious with the ideology that correcting
someone on the spot will give the learners’ light to be more determine to continue their study
on certain topic about language and speech. But it is not helping them mentally and
emotionally because as human itself, we believe that we have to keep good energy in our
body to keep up with all this draining works.

So how do we overcome this problem? The easiest answer is we have to encourage

bringing them into our conversation of certain language that we want to teach so eventually
they will figure out on how to acquire the skills and correct the mistakes they did in the
conversation that we have. If they have a question or seeking help, they will come to us so we
do not have to be too worried by correcting them on the spot. The bond that we create among
our students will be slowly helping them to be more confident to speak the second language
without feeling timid or making themselves wary of their speeches. This will teach them and
expose them on how to respond to social influence eventhough it is just a short conversation
or casual talk with anyone. Social influence has its power to develop people in
knowledges,skills,languages,history and more.
