Section A: (5 x 1 mark = 5 marks)

Read the questions carefully. Choose and write the correct letter in your answer
sheet.

1. The cuboid below has a volume of 162 cm3.

What is the breadth of the cuboid?

(A) 5 cm *B=V÷(LxH)
(B) 6 cm
(C) 7 cm *9 x 3 = 27
(D) 8 cm
* 162 ÷ 27 = 6 cm

2. In triangle EFG, EF = EG and ∠FEG = 46° . Find ∠EFG .

(A) 46º * (180º - 46 ) ÷ 2

(B) 57º
(C) 67º = 134º ÷ 2
(D) 134º
= 67º

3. The capacity of a cubical tank is 27 000 cm3.

What is the length of one edge of the cubical tank?

(A) 30 cm
(B) 90 cm * Edge = 3 V
(C) 300 cm
(D) 900 cm
* Edge = 3 27 000
= 30 cm

2
4. ABC is a right-angled triangle. AB and CE are straight lines. Find ∠a .

(A) 18º
(B) 38º *180º - 62º
(C) 62º
(D) 118º = 118º

5. The base of the rectangular tank below measures 20 cm by 15 cm. It contains

10.8 l of water.

What is the height of the water level?

(A) 3.6 cm
(B) 6 cm
*H = V ÷ ( L x B )
*V = 10.8 l
(C) 36 cm
(D) 60 cm

= 10 800 cm3
*L x B = 20 x 15 = 300
*H = 10 800 ÷ 300 3
Section B: (6 x 2 marks = 12 marks), (1 x 3 marks = 3 marks)
Solve the problems. Show your working/s clearly in the spaces provided in your
answer sheet.

6. The picture below shows cuboid A and cube B with the same volume.

What is the height of cuboid A?

*H = V ÷ ( L x B )
*V = 20 x 20 x 20
= 8000 cm3
*L x B = 40 x 20 = 800
*H = 8000 ÷ 800
= 10 cm

7. SOT and UOV are straight lines.

Find ∠SOV .
*180º - 80º - 40º = 60º
*180º - 15º - 60º = 105º
8. The base area of the cuboid below is 25 cm2. Its height is 23 cm.

*V = L x B x H
*base area = L x B = 25 cm2
*V = 25 x 23
= 575 cm3
Find the volume of the cuboid.

5
9. SOT and UOV are straight lines.

Find ∠SOU .

*180º - 80º - 40º = 60º

*180º - 15º - 60º = 105º
*180º - 105º = 75º

10. The rectangular container below measures 15 cm by 20 cm by 16 cm.

It contained some water at first. When 2.5 l of water was poured out of the

rectangular container, it had 0.8 l of water left.

Find the height of the water level in the rectangular container at first.

*H = V ÷ ( L x B )
*Volume of water
= 2.5 l + 0.8 l
= 3.3 l
= 3300 cm3
*L x B = 15 x 20 = 300
*H = 3300 ÷ 300

11. Triangle PQR is an isosceles triangle and Triangle QRS is an equilateral
triangle. PV and QU are straight lines.

Find ∠n .

.
* ∠PRQ = 180° − 87° − 25° = 68°
* ∠PRQ = ∠PQR
* ∠PQR = 68°
* ∠SQR = 60°
* ∠n = 180° − 68° − 60° = 52°

12. The picture below shows container Y and container Z. Container Y was 3
filled with water while container Z was empty at first. All of the water from
container Y was then poured into container Z.

Find the height of the water level in container Z in the end.

*Volume of water
1
* V = x 80 x 30 x 42
3

= 33 600 cm3
*H = V ÷ ( L x B )
*L x B = 20 x 30 = 600
*H = 33 600 ÷ 600
= 56 cm 9
