2. Label the beaker as 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5

3. Cut the scaffold in to five small pieces and put each scaffold piece in to a beaker

4. In a notepad, tabulate the following table

Sample length Breadth height

5. Measure the length, breadth and height of each scaffold and note down the readings in the table

6. Weigh each scaffold piece and note it down on the table

7. Add 30 ml of ethanol to the conical flask (given along with the vaccum filter)

8. Connect it to the vaccum pump motor

9. Add one scaffold piece (e.g sample 1) in to the conical flask containing ethanol

10. Close the flask using square shaped petridish

11. Switch on the motor and apply the vaccum in to it for 5 minutes

12. After 5 minutes, take out the sample and keep it on a filter paper to blot out the excess ethanol for
one minute

13. Immediately weigh the wet weight and note down the readings

14. Measure the remaining ethanol in the conical flask ( If it is not 30 ml add some more ethanol and
make up to 30 ml).

15. Repeat the experiment for all other 4 scaffold pieces.
