The following information provides detailed instructions on how to register for and complete the PERT test for
college placement. The registration process to complete the PERT test remotely is a long process. Make sure you
plan your time appropriately for both the registration and test completion.

NOTE: It is important that you follow the instructions. Students will not be able to access the test if there is any
deviation from what is detailed below. You should read through the instructions prior to starting.

STEP ONE: PREPARATION

A. To complete the remote PERT test it is necessary to access three different software systems College Success,
CANVAS and Honorlock. You must use Google Chrome to access these systems and complete all of the
following registration and testing steps.
B. To complete the remote PERT test you must have web camera access.
C. To complete the remote PERT test registration you must have access to your HCC hawkmail, your HCC
Student ID number and your HCC password. This information was provided to you in your HCC application
acceptance confirmation e-mail.
D. Registration and testing should be completed on a desktop or laptop computer. It should not be completed
on any mobile device such as a phone or tablet.
STEP TWO: ACCOUNT CREATION AND TEST REGISTRATION

A. Create your PERT test account through College Success.

1st. Go to https://college.measuredsuccess.com .
2nd. Click on Student Self-Registration at the bottom of the College Success sign in page.

3rd. Select Hillsborough Community College from the Institution drop down menu.

4th. Select Remote Pert from the Select the Site drop down menu.

5th. Enter pert2010 in the Site Password box.

6th. Fill out the Your Information section completely.

7th. Fill out the More Information section (using your HCC student ID number and HCC hawkmail)
completely.

8th. Click on Submit. Located on the bottom right of the page.

9th. Click OK on the pop-up notification informing you that your account will be created and your
login in information will be sent to the e-mail provided. Note: Verify you received the e-mail.
You will need this information for future steps in this process.

10th. After confirmation you will be automatically logged into the College Success site and an e-mail
with your login information will be sent to your e-mail provided on the registration page.
Review the End User Service Agreement (EUSA) and click Accept.

11th. Once you accept the End User Service Agreement you will automatically be redirected to your
account dashboard.

12th. Enter the test access code exactly as it was provided to you in your confirmation e-mail from
HCC (example PERT-READING).

13th. You should now see the test listed in your dashboard.

B. Log out of College Success and proceed to STEP THREE.

STEP THREE: HONORLOCK ACTIVATION THROUGH CANVAS

In step three you active the remote proctor software. This software will monitor you as you take the PERT test
through screen share and webcam features. It is important that you close out any other items on your computer so
your screen share only shows the appropriate information. In addition this will decrease the number of distractions
that you experience while completing the PERT test.
A. Login to CANVAS
1st. Go to https://hcc.instructure.com .

2nd. Enter your HCC hawkmail e-mail address and click Next.

3rd. Enter your HCC password and click Sign in.

4th. Once you click Sign in you will automatically be redirected to your CANVAS dashboard.

B. Activate Honorlock
1st. In CANVAS make sure you are on you Dashboard site.

2nd. Click on the PERT test tile for the test you plan to complete. If you do not see your test
contact your campus test center for assistance.

3rd. Read the PERT test information.

4th. Click on Honorlock on the left had navigation to begin activation.

5th. Add the Honorlock extension to your Google Chrome browser. Check the box next to I agree
to Honorlocks terms of service and privacy policy and click Get Started.

6th. You will briefly be redirected to the Chrome Web Store. Click Add to Chrome to add the
extension.

7th. Confirm that you want to add the extension by clicking Add extension.

8th. Close the Honorlock - Chrome Web Store tab. DO NOT close the CANVAS Honorlock tab.

9th. You will briefly see a confirmation that the extension was added and then you will see this
option to launch Honorlock on CANVAS. Confirm the correct test is showing and click Launch.

10th. Click on Launch Proctoring.

11th. A pop up box will appear to activate Screen Sharing. Click on Launch Screen Recording and
select the screen you want to share. This should be the screen you will be using to view your
PERT test.

12th. Click on the image of your screen and click Share. It is important to note once you click Share
you have activated Honorlock and it monitoring your screen activity and webcam.

13th. You will see a notification bar on your screen indicating that Honorlock is now sharing your
screen.

14th. Leave Honorlock open, continue screen sharing and proceed to STEP FOUR.

STEP FOUR: COMPLETE THE PERT EXAM THROUGH COLLEGE SUCCESS

In step four you will login in to College Success and complete the PERT exam while Honorlock proctors (monitors)
your activities.
1st. Open a new tab in your Google Chrome browser.

2nd. Go to https://college.measuredsuccess.com.
3rd. Login to College Success using the information from STEP TWO.

4th. On your College Success dashboard click on the PERT test you are going to complete.

5th. An Honorlock pop up box will appear to insert password. Click on Insert Password and
Honorlock will insert the password. You will see a password being entered.

6th. Confirm the password is entered and click on Submit on your College Success site.

7th. Read the College Success Student Privacy Policy. Click I have read this policy.

8th. You are now ready to begin your test. Read the welcome statement and click Next.

9th. Once you have completed your test you receive a test completed notification.

10th. Review your score results. Print a copy, or take a picture, for your records.
11th. Log out of College Success
12th. Remove the Honorlock extension (you should be prompted to do this once the test is
completed.
13th. Log out of Honorlock.
14th. Log out of CANVAS.
15th. Discuss your results with your Academic Advisor.
