2
Preparation for the start of the exam

Before the proctoring exam begins, you will need to go through several preparation steps.

Step 1 – Acquaintance and consent to the rules of participation

The proctoring system automatically evaluates credibility in the exam results based on the
indicators listed below. Abidance with the following rules during the whole exam session would help you
to get the highest credibility in the exam results:
 The webcam must be placed strictly in front of your face, no cameras may be placed on the side;
 The head should be fully framed, and no partial or complete exit from the camera's field of view
is permitted;
 The face should be in the center of the webcam's field of view and occupy at least 10% of the
space captured by the camera during the entire session;
 The face must be lit evenly and the light source must not be directed into the camera or
illuminate only one half of the face;
 Hair, clothing, hands or anything else should not cover the face area;
 It is not permitted to wear sunglasses, glasses with transparent lenses are only allowed to be
used;
 There shouldn't be any other people in the room;
 It is prohibited to leave the workplace during the examination;
 There shouldn't be voices or noise in the background, it is most preferably if the exam is held in
silence;
 The exam should be passed in a browser with a full screen window, you cannot switch to other
applications (including other browsers) or minimize the browser, you cannot open third-party
tabs (pages);
 All programs that use the webcam should be disabled on your computer, except for your
browser;
 Ensure a stable internet connection;
 The materials and contents of the examination may not be recorded in any way or passed on to
third parties;
 Do not use any audio, visual or any other prompts.

3
Step 2 – Equipment check

Web (Internet) connection and computer (PC) check launch prior to the examination start. The
equipment check allows identifying possible technical problems before the start of the event. The check
is run automatically; the user's interference is needed only in case problems are identified.

Equipment stages:

1. Browser check: the system checks whether your browser complies with the minimum
requirements of the proctoring system; browser window should be switched to full-screen mode.
2. Webcam check, you should enable camera access in the browser, if such a request is made. If the
camera works correctly, then you will pass the webcam check.
3. Microphone check: you should enable microphone access in the browser, if such a request is
made. If the volume of your microphone is enough, then you will pass the microphone check.
4. Connection test: It checks a web socket connection to the server is possible. The test will be
successful if this type of connection is not blocked.
5. Screen check: It checks a screen capture. You should give access to the entire screen. If access is
given only to a part of the screen, or an additional monitor is installed, then the check will result
in an error, and you will be unable to start the selected test.

4
Step 3 – Take a Face Photo
The proctoring system will ask you to take a picture of your face using a webcam. The face photo
stage is a part of an identity verification procedure

Step 4 – Upload an identity document

You can either upload a pre-scanned ID document in JPEG and PNG format (We highly recommend to
use JPEG) up to 5 MB placed horizontally, or take a picture with your webcam. The document is
automatically checked by the proctoring system to be correct and clear, and the ID photo is verified with
your face.
If a picture of the ID document can’t be taken or accepted by the system, then try to take a photo of
yourself holding your ID document.

5
Passing the Exam
After successfully passing all the stages of verification, you will be redirected to the exam page with a
proctoring session.
In the lower left corner, throughout the event, you will see a round preview window, which will
display a picture from your webcam, as well as notifications from the proctoring system in case
violations are detected.
If you need to use a calculator, click on the camera preview and select a calculator from the drop-
down list.
Pay attention to the timer that displays the time left until the end of the exam:

End of Exam
If you are confident in your answers and ready to submit them, click the "Finish" button and
confirm your choice. The exam and the proctoring session will end at the same time.

Frequently asked questions via connecting proctoring.

The hardware check is successful and does not require user action usually with the
recommended browsers and operating systems. The exceptions are requests to provide
access to the screen, microphone, and webcam. If you still encounter a problem at one
of the verification stages, then you can find a solution in the table below.
