B327- Creating Futures: Sustainable Enterprise and Innovation

TMA – Version: A – SUMMER 2022-23


Cut-off Date: As announced on LMS

Students need to read the TMA instructions carefully and contact their tutors if further
clarification is needed.
1. TMA answer files should be submitted to LMS BY THE TEAM LEADER ONLY on or
before the cut-off date. Late submissions are penalized with marks deductions as per
university regulations.
2. TMA answer file should be in WORD form. Other formats are not accepted and might
result-in disqualifying the work submitted.
3. TMA PT3 form should be completed with all information such as: student name and ID
number, section number, and tutor's name. The PT3 TMA form should be inserted as the
FIRST page of the TMA answer file.

Plagiarism
The Arab Open University definitions of plagiarism
According to the Arab Open University regulations, the following acts represent cases of
plagiarism:

• Verbatim (exact) copying of printed material and submitting them as part of TMAs without
proper academic acknowledgement and documentation.

• Verbatim (exact) copying of material from the Internet, including tables and graphics.

• Copying other students’ notes or reports.

• Copying previous work submitted to any AOU branch.

• Using paid or unpaid material prepared for the student by individuals or firms.

Penalty on plagiarism
The following is the standard plagiarism penalty applied across AOU branches as per
Article 11 of the university regulations:
• Awarding of zero for a TMA wherein more than 40% of the content is plagiarized.
• Documentation of warning in the student record.
• Failure in the course to dismissal from the university for repeated plagiarism.
All University programmes are required to apply penalties that are consistent with the
University regulations.

TMA instructions
1- THIS IS A GROUP PROJECT TMA. Each team should consist of 3-4 students. This
is a good opportunity for students to enhance their professional skills in terms of team
working, communication, coordination, and time management skills.
2- Teams should be formed from students IN THE SAME SECTION.
3- Each team should select a TEAM LEADER. The team leader is responsible for
contacting their tutor to get APPROVAL for the TMA topic to avoid duplication.
4- ONLY THE TEAM LEADER should submit the TMA answer file on LMS before the
cut-off date.
5- 75% of the TMA mark is awarded for the TMA report (15 marks), while 25% (5
marks) are INDIVIDUALLY awarded based on a presentation of the TMA report by
all team members.

TMA QUESTIONS:
Sustainability has become one of the most important concerns for modern enterprises. The focus
of this TMA is to select an example of a sustainable enterprise and discuss the factors that had led
to its success along with the challenges that it faces in adopting sustainability. Students need to
critically examine, analyse, and evaluate the enterprise sustainability practices with reference to
the theories discussed in course material as the basis for answer. Students need NOT to broadly
tell stories about the enterprise. Rather, an academic, scientific analysis is expected as the outcome
of this TMA assignment.

Write a (2000 word) report tackling the following 5 points:

1. Name the sustainable enterprise and briefly describe its products and activities. (10
marks)
2. What does it mean to be sustainable? Why is your chosen enterprise considered
sustainable? (20 marks)
3. Based on Sacchetti and Tortia (2016) continuum, discuss the enterprise ownership
structure, and how does it affect the enterprise governance and societal impacts? (25
marks)
4. Discuss how does the enterprise maintain its input-output rules to achieve
Environmental Sustainability (ES)? Which ONE factor is the MOST influential in
adopting ES and environmentally friendly innovations? Justify your selection. (25
marks)
5. Describe the 4 components of the enterprise’s Sustainable Business Model (SMB). (20
marks)

Final points to consider:
• Format: Answers should be in the form of a REPORT that could include
headings, numbering, and bullet points.
• Discussion of each point should be clearly labelled according to the point
context.
• Font type and size: Use “Times New Roman” font, size 14.
• Referencing: Answers must include in-text citation, and a list of resources
used in the HARVARD REFERENCING STYLE should be provided at the
end of the report.
• E-Library resources: Teams are expected to make use of the magnificent e-
resources available in the E-library, which is accessible from the LMS.

Awarded for the reports that demonstrate a thorough
understanding of the subject through a well-structured argument
