and Honors
About Senior Awards
There are many ways to showcase your
achievements during your 4 years of high
school.

- Awards can be presented as a: card, pin,


cord, certificate, decoration on your stole,
sticker on your diploma, or a medallion.

All can be worn at graduation to show your


accomplishments.

- Awards may have requirements in one


or more of the following areas: GPA,
course work, service hours or by
invitation.
College and Career Readiness Medallion
Students who meet a-g subject requirements for CSU/UC will
earn this award. (All courses must be a-g approved coursework)

- History/ Social Science: 2 years (“c” or better each


semester)
- English: 4 years (“c” or better each semester)
- Mathematics: 3 years (“c” or better by the end on the 2nd
semester)
- Lab Science: 2 years (“c” or better each semester)
- Language other than English: 2 years (“c” or better by the
end on the 2nd semester)
- Visual and Performing Arts: 1 year (“c” or better each
semester)
- College Prep Elective: 1 year (“c” or better each semester)
Pathway Medallion
PEACE/COMPASS/MBA/SEGA:

- 3 pathway courses with 3.0GPA or better


- 1 AP or Dual-Enrollment Class
- 40 hours of Service Learning.

QUEST

- QUEST course of study


- 240 credits and a 2.0 GPA or better
- AP: World History, US History, and English Language
- 2 additional AP courses or Dual-Enrollment courses
- Quest Senior Project or AP Seminar and AP Research
- 40 hours of Service Learning
Career Technical Education (CTE)
Students must complete the entire sequence with the following grades.

2 year sequence

- Concentrator course with “D” or better


- Capstone Course with “C” or better each semester

3 year sequence

- Intro Course with “D” or better


- Concentrator course with “D” or better
- Capstone Course with “C” or better each semester

4 year course

- Intro Course with “D” or better


- 2 Concentrator courses with “D” or better
- Capstone Course with “C” or better each semester
Service Learning Award

1000+ hours will get you a medallion

Service Learning Hours must be turned in through your


Pathways Service Learning Google Form

*Hours must be logged prior to February 10th of your senior


year to meet medallion eligibility.
Medal of Merit
Each department at Millikan uses some or all of the following
criteria in selecting Medal of Merit Finalist: excellent grades,
excellent citizenship (no Fs or Us), good attendance, number of
classes taken in the subject area, involvement in extracurricular
activities of the department, tested ability and career plans.

Each student nominated receives a bronze Millikan Medal of


Merit.

The top student in each department receives a larger bronze


Millikan Medal of Merit with their name and department
engraved.

Accumulated medals earned in grades 9-12 can be worn at


graduation.
Advanced Placement (AP) Stole Awards
*As an alternative to these criteria students may complete all the requirements for the
Advanced Academic Achievement Recognition: nationally recognized International Baccalaureate Certificate before graduation.

**As an alternative to these criteria, students may complete all the requirements for
- Take an AP course and pass with a “C” or better the INternational Baccalaureate Diploma Before graduation.

- Attempt one AP exam

Advanced Placement Achievement with Honors*

- Take 3 AP courses and pass with a “C” or better


- Attempt 3 AP exams
- Must pass 1 of the exams with a 3 or better

Advanced Academic Achievement with Highest Honors**

- Take 5 AP courses and pass with a “C” or better


- Attempt 5 AP exams
- Must pass at least 3 exams with a 3 or better
California Scholarship Federation (CSF)
An mail is sent each semester in October and February. Students
must complete this form by the deadline for each semester.

Students will receive the following as seniors:

The Lamp Pin is presented to a senior who has earned


membership in CSF for 4 semesters, including one semester
their senior year. Those who earn this award are given the honor
of being known as Seal bearer at Commencement.

The Life Membership Certificate is a parchment certificate


caring the Gold Seal of the Chapter. It is presented to gradustign
Seal bearers and confers of a life membership in the federation,

In addition to the above awards , Seal bearers are recognized by


California and out-of-state colleges and universities. A cord is
also given to students to wear at graduation.
National Honor Society (NHS)
Qualifications:

- Scholarship, service, leadership and character


- Seniors and Juniors with a cumulative 3.50 GPA may apply
for membership early in the fall and the spring semester
- If they meet all other qualifications , they will be inducted
into membership
- A student applying must obtain an application the the
sponsor, Mrs. braswell-Rotkin.
- Applicants shall write and essay concerning their school
and community activities.
- These must be certified by the adult sponsor of each
activity.
State Seal of Biliteracy
The State Seal of Biliteracy is a recognition by the State
Superintendent of Public Instruction for graduating high
school students who have attained a high level of
proficiency in speaking, reading , and writing in one or
more languages in addition to English.

The State Seal of Biliteracy is Marked by a gold seal


affixed to the diploma or transcript and a gold medallion.

High Honors 3.5 -3.99 (Unweighted) Academic GPA

- *Through 7th semester

- Name is listed in the Commencement Program
Hall of Fame
The honor of being chosen for the Hall of Fame is an
admirable goal for which every student may strive. The Hall
of Fame is the highest form of recognition that Millikan
offer.

Criteria: Total evaluation of a students four years of


contributions and involvement at Millikan. Academics,
athletics, awards/honors, community service, fine arts, and
on-campus activities are included in the evaluation.

Nominations are made by all faculty members and


administrators.

Recognition: Their portrait will be permanently enshrined


in Millikan's Hall of Fame and will be presented with a
plaque as the are honored at the graduation ceremony.
