THE CALL TO CELEBRATION

LECTOR: GOD is love and out of love, he created the earth and all in it. He
did created birds and trees, flowers and hills, man and woman. From among his
beloved creatures, God choose two special people (JOHN MICHAEL AND
GLORY MAE) and planted in their hearts the divine seed of love. With
unfailing trust and steadfast faith in Him, they nourished this seed, overcoming
formidable problems and challenges along the way. Together they make and
will continue to strive to let their love blossom into a beautiful flower, forever
God like.

(The bridal march is played. The Bride and her entourage processed into their
designated places. The congregation is requested to stand.)

THE ADDRESSESS
PRIEST: Dearly beloved. This we have come together in the presence of God
to witness and bless the joining of this man, JOHN MICHAEL, and this
woman, GLORY MAE, in Holy Matrimony.

The bond and covenant of marriage was established by God in creation, and our
Lord Jesus Christ adorned this manner of life by his presence and his first
miracle at a wedding in Cana of Galilee. It signifies to us the mystery of the
union between Christ and His Church and the Holy Scripture commends it to be
honored among all people. The union of husband and wife in heart, body and
mind is intended by God for their mutual joy, for the help and comfort given to
one another in prosperity and adversity, and when it is God's will for the pro-
creation of children and their nurture in the knowledge and love of the Lord.
Therefore, marriage is not to be entered into unadvisedly or lightly, but
reverently, deliberately and in accordance with the purpose of which it was
instituted by God. Into this Holy Union, JOHN MICHAEL and GLORY
MAE now come to be joined. If any of you can show just cause why they may
not be lawfully married, speak now; or else forever hold your peace.
(Then the Priest says to groom and bride)

2
I require and charge you both, here in the presence of God and His people, that
if either of you know any reason why you may not be united in marriage
lawfully, or in accordance with God's word, you do now confess it.

THE DECLARATION OF CONSENT

PRIEST: GLORY MAE, will you have this man to be your husband, to live
together in the covenant of marriage? Will you love him, comfort him, honor
and keep him, in sickness and in health forsaking all others, be faithful to him as
long as you both shall live?

GLORY MAE: Yes, I Will.

PRIEST: JOHN MICHAEL, will you have this woman to be your wife, to
live together in the covenant of marriage? Will you love her, comfort her, honor
and keep her, in sickness and in health forsaking all others, be faithful to her as
long as you both shall live?

JOHN MICHAEL: Yes, I Will.

(Then the Priest address the principal sponsors and congregations)

PRIEST: Will all of you, who are witnessing these promises, especially the
beloved sponsors, do all in the power to uphold JOHN MICHAEL and
GLORY MAE in the marriage?

SPONSORS: Yes we will.

(Looking at the Family of the Groom and the Bride the Priest says)

PRIEST: Who present this Woman and this Man to be married to each other?
FAMILY: We do.
THE MINISTRY OF THE WORD

(All Stand)

PRIEST: Let us pray, O gracious and ever living God, you have created us
male and female in your image. Look mercifully upon this man and this woman,
who come to you seeking your blessing and to assist them with your grace, that
with true fidelity and steadfast love they may honorand keep the promises and

3
vows they make; through Jesus Christ our Savior, who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever.
PEOPLE: Amen.

THE LESSON

(All Sit)
FIRST READING:
Genesis: 2:18-24

The first reading is taken from the book of Genesis Chapter 2, verses 18 to
24.

And the Lord God said, "It is not good that the man should be alone. I will make
him a helper comparable to him. “Out of the ground the Lord God forms every
beast of the field and every fowl of the air, and brought them to Adam to see
what he could call them. And whatsoever Adam called ever living creature that
was the name thereof. So, Adam gave names to all the cattle, to the fowls of the
air and to every beast of the fields. But for Adam, he has not found a helper
comparable to him. And the Lord caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam and He
slept; he took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib
which the Lord God had taken from man, he made into a woman and he brought
her to the man. And Adam said: “this is now bone of my bone and flesh of my
flesh; she shall be called woman, because she was taken out of man.” Therefore,
a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall
become one flesh.

THIS IS THE WORD OF THE LORD.

PEOPLE: Thanks be to God.

HYMN
SECOND READING:

The second reading is taken from the letter of St. Paul to the Christian in
Colossians, Chapter 3, verses 12 to 17.

Put on therefore, as God's chosen ones, Holy and Beloved, compassion,

kindness, lowliness, meekness and patience, forbearing one another, for giving
each other, as Lord has forgiven you, so also must forgive. And above all these

4
put in love which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the
peace of Christ rule in your hearts to which indeed you were called in one body
and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, as you teach and
admonish one another in all wisdom and you sing psalms and hymns and
spirituals song with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do,
in word or deed, do the great thanksgiving in the name of the Lord Jesus, give
thanks to God the Father through Him.

THIS IS THE WORD OF THE LORD.

PEOPLE:Thanks be to God.

of husband and wife, you have given us an image of heavenly Jerusalem
adorned as a bride for bridegroom, your Son Jesus, our Lord who loves her and
gave Himself for her, that he might make the whole creation new. Therefore, we

12
praise you joining our voices with angels and archangels with all the company
of heaven who forever sing the hymn to proclaim the glory of Your name.

ALL: Holy, holy, holy Lord God Almighty, heaven and earth are full of your
glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord,
Hossana in the highest.

PRIEST: Holy and gracious Father, in Your infinite love. You made us for
Yourself and when we had fallen into sin and become subject to evil and death,
You, in Your mercy, sent Jesus Christ, Your only eternal Son, to share our
human nature, to live and die as one of us, to reconcile us to You, the Lord and
Father of all. He stretched out His arms upon the cross, and offered Himself, in
obedience to Your will, a perfect sacrifice for the world.
On the night, when He was handed over to suffering and death, our Lord Jesus
Christ took bread, and when He had given thanks to You, he broke it and gave it
to His disciples and said “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this for
the remembrance of me. After supper He took the cup and when He had given
thanks, He gave it to them and said “Drink this all of you, for this is my blood
of the new covenant which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of
sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me.
Therefore, we proclaim the mystery of our faith.

PRIEST: We celebrate the memorial of our redemption. O, Father, in the

sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving. Recalling His death, resurrection and
ascension, we offer these gifts.
Sanctify them by your Holy Spirit to be the Body and Blood of Your Son,
the Holy food and drink of the new and unending life in Him. Sanctify us also
that we may also faithfully receive this Holy sacrament and serve You in unity,
constancy and peace and in the last day, bring us with all Your Saints into the
joy of Your eternal kingdom. All these we ask through Your Son Jesus Christ.
By Him and with Him and in Him in the unity of Holy Spirit, all honor and
glory is Yours. Almighty Father, now and forever.
