 INTRODUCTION: (Dr. Edwin Gomes)

Dear Brothers and Sisters, today as we gather around the altar to celebrate the
union of Jonathan and Chrissiedana in holy matrimony, let us reflect on the
holy sacrament of matrimony.

Marriage is truly mysterious. Yes, husbands may think their wives are “mysterious”
and wives may think the same of their husbands, but in truth each person is a sacred
mystery and the unity of two people in marriage is an even greater mystery.

As a mystery, one’s spouse and marriage itself must be entered into with an
openness and humility that says, “I want to know you more each and every day.”
Spouses who approach their marriage with self-righteousness will always look
down on the other and always fail to respect the holy mystery of the other.

Each person you get to know, especially your spouse, is a beautiful and glorious
mystery of God’s creation whom you are not called to “solve” but are called to meet
on a deeper and deeper level each and every day. There must always be a humility
that enables spouses to be open to the other in a new way every day so that they can
continually discover a greater depth of beauty in the other. It is this humility and
respect for the other in marriage that enables spouses to fulfill their joint mission of
becoming one. “they are no longer two, but one flesh.”

Two most wonderful events will take place here today; God will come to us giving
himself to us in the readings from Scripture and in the Sacrament of the Eucharist
and secondly Jonathan and Chrissiedana will make a sacred vow to give themselves
to each other for the rest of their lives. There are two self-givings in love, God’s
giving of himself to us in love and Jonathan and Chrissiedana giving themselves to
each other in love.

Let us all therefore brothers and sisters gather together to pray for the bridal couple
in this Holy Eucharistic Ceremony.

KYRIE - Kyrie Eleison

Celebrant: As we offer this Nuptial Mass for Jonathan & Chrissie, let us who are here
today, renew our love, loyalty, and fidelity to God and to one another. Let us prepare
ourselves for this celebration by calling to mind our sins.

All: I confess to Almighty God, and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have
greatly sinned, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done, and in what I
have failed to do; through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous
fault; therefore I ask Blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you, my
brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.

Celebrant: May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and bring us to
everlasting life.

All: Amen.

 LITURGY OF THE WORD

FIRST READING: A Reading from the Book of Genesis - (Chapter 2: Verses 18-24)

(Ubaldina Noronaha)

The Lord God said, "It is not right that man should be alone. I shall make him a
suitable companion to help him". So from the soil he fashioned all the wild animals
and all the birds of heaven. These he brought to the man to see what he could call
them, each one was to bear the name the man would give it. The man gave names to
all the cattle, all the birds of heaven and all the wild animals. But no helper suitable
for the man was found for him. So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the
man, and while he slept, he took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh,
and the rib which the Lord God had taken from the man, he made into a woman and
brought her to the man. Then the man said, "This at last is bone of my bones and flesh
of my flesh, she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man". Therefore a
man leaves his father and mother and cleaves to his wife and they become one flesh.

The Word of the Lord.

All: Thanks be to God.

 RESPONSORIAL PSALM: (SUNG)

Response: I will bless the Lord at all times

I will bless the Lord at all times,

I will bless the Lord at all times,
Praise of him is always in my mouth,
In the Lord my soul shall make its boast,

The humble shall hear and be glad.

Glorify the Lord with me,
Together let us praise his name,

I sought the Lord and he answered me

From all my terrors he set me free,
Look toward him and be radiant

Let your faces not be abashed

This lowly one called, the Lord heard,
And rescued him from all his distress,

The angel of the Lord is encamped around those who fear him,
To rescue them taste and see that the Lord is good.
Blessed the man who seeks refuge in him.

 SECOND READING: A Reading from the first letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians
(Chapter 13: Vs. 4 - 13 )

(Viana)

Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It
does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in
wrong doing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all
things, endures all things. Love never ends. But for prophecies, they will come to an
end; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will come to an end. For we
know only in part, and we prophesy only in part; but when the complete comes, the
partial will come to an end. When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a
child, I reasoned like a child; when I became an adult, I put an end to childish ways.
For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then we will see face to face. Now I know only
in part; then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known. Meanwhile these
three remain faith, hope and love, and the greatest of these is love.

The Word of the Lord.

All: Thanks be to God.

 GOSPEL ACCLAMATION: Alleluia (Sung)

 GOSPEL

On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was
there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. When the
wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.” “Woman, why
do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.” His mother said to
the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind
used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons.
Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim.
Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.”
They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned
into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had
drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside and said, “Everyone
brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had
too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.” What Jesus did here in Cana
of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his
disciples believed in him.

Celebrant: This is the gospel of the Lord.

All: Praise to your lord Jesus Christ.

 RITE OF MARRIAGE

Celebrant: Dear Jonathan and Chrissie, you have come together to this Church so
that the Lord may seal and strengthen your love in the presence of the priest and
this community. Christ abundantly blesses this love. He has already consecrated you
by a special sacrament so that you may assume the duties of marriage in mutual love
and lasting fidelity. And so, in the presence of the church, I ask you to state your
intentions. Chrissie & Jonathan, have you come here freely and without reservation
to give yourselves to each other in marriage?

Jonathan: Yes, I have.

Chrissie: Yes, I have.

Celebrant: Will you love and honour each other as husband and wife for the rest of
your life?
Jonathan: Yes, I will.
Chrissie: Yes, I will.

Celebrant: Will you accept children lovingly from God and bring them up according
to the law of Christ and His Church?
Jonathan: Yes, I will.
Chrissie: Yes, I will.

 MARRIGE CONSENT

Celebrant: Chrissie and Jonathan, since it is your intention to enter into marriage,
join your right hands and declare your consent to each other before God and His
Church.

Jonathan: I, Jonathan, take you, Chrissie, to be my wife. I promise to be true to you in

good times and in bad, in sickness and in health, I will love you and honour you all
the days of my life.

Chrissie: I, Chrissie, take you, Jonathan, to be my husband. I promise to be true to

you in good times and bad, in sickness and in health, I will love you and honour you
all the days of my life.

Celebrant: You have declared your consent before the Church. May the Lord and His
goodness strengthen your consent and fill you both with his blessings. What God has
joined together, let no man put as under.

All: Amen.

 BLESSING OF THE RINGS

Celebrant: Almighty God, bless these rings, which you give to each as the sign of
your love and fidelity.

All: Amen.

Jonathan: Chrissie, take this ring as a sign of my love and fidelity. In the name of the
Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Chrissie: Jonathan, take this ring as a sign of my love and fidelity. In the name of the
Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
 LIGHTING OF THE UNITY CANDLE

Celebrant: This unity candle before us represents Christ, the light in Jonathan and
Chrissie’s lives which from today will burn even brighter by the grace of the
sacrament of Holy Matrimony. While we pray, Jonathan and Chrissie will light the
candle symbolizing unity with Christ and with each other. This candle will be
preserved by them and re-lit on their wedding anniversaries hereafter.
All: Amen

 NUPTIAL SONG:

This is the day that the Lord hath made

And I'm so glad He made you
With each rising sun you are here by my side
You are more than a dream come true
Oh, to have you to, hold you
To love you, to pray
To share with to care with
To hold hands and say
This is the day
That the Lord hath made
And I will rejoice, I will rejoice
I will rejoice with you
This is a love that the lord hath made
That you and I we are one
Love's mystery is unfolding today
Written for us in the sun
Oh, for better for worse
For rich or for poor
Each day that passes
I love you more
'Cause this is the day
That the Lord hath made
And I will rejoice, I will rejoice
I will rejoice with you
This is the day that the Lord has made
I will rejoice and be glad in it
This is the day, this is the day
That the Lord has made
