PRESIDER AND HOMILIST : Rev. Fr. Felmor Amparado & Co-Presider:Rev. Faustino Cedeño
Parish Priest

COMMENTATOR : Ms. Arianne Olaera

INTRODUCTION:

Good morning, Brothers and Sisters of Christ.

We are gathered together today for our Mass of the Holy Spirit to officially open our
school year 2023 - 2024. The celebration of the Holy Eucharist is offered as a thanksgiving
offering to welcome the day and the people. Like a family celebrating the gift of life and
endowed also to a prayer for a grace-filled year. As we celebrate this Holy Eucharist, let us ask
the Holy Spirit to be our guide and source of strength in doing our role of building God’s
kingdom here in our community.
Please rise as we joyfully join the choir in singing the entrance song as we
welcome our Mass Presider this morning in the person of Rev. Fr. ________.

PROCESSION: (Priest …)
COMMENTATOR: Please remain standing; Let us now witness the procession of the Gifts of the
Holy Spirit.

THE GIFT OF WISDOM - SYMBOLIZED BY THE CROSS

Cross is the stumbling block of those who do not believe and a sign of salvation to those
who believe. Wisdom gives us a right sense of proportion so that we esteem the things of God;
we value goodness and virtue at their true worth and to see the goods of the world as stepping
stones to sanctity.

THE GIFT OF UNDERSTANDING - SYMBOLIZED BY A LIGHT

Light scatters darkness. The gift of understanding gives us a spiritual perception which
enables us to understand the truths of faith in accordance with our needs.

THE GIFT OF KNOWLEDGE - SYMBOLIZED BY THE BIBLE

The Bible helps us to know God’s will. The gift of knowledge gives us a spiritual “know-
how.” It disposes us to recognize, under the impulse of God’s grace, whatever may be helpful or
hurtful to us spiritually.

THE GIFT OF COUNSEL - SYMBOLIZED BY A PLANT

The plants needs to be nurtured and taken cared so that it may grow. The gift of Counsel
moves us to choose what is helpful and to reject what is harmful. We seek guidance from the
elders and spiritually mature others so that we may grow in discernment.

THE GIFT OF FORTITUDE - SYMBOLIZED BY A JAR

A clay is a fragile material. It symbolizes each one of us. But we draw strength from the
Divine Potter. Fortitude is the strength needed to win over temptations and overcome with
courage all the trials of life. It is the capacity to sacrifice one’s life even to the point of heroic
martyrdom.

THE GIFT OF PIETY - SYMBOLIZED BY A ROSARY

Rosary and Prayer booklet helps us to build intimacy with the Lord. The gift of piety is an
attitude of a child towards his parents: a mixture of love , confidence and reverence. We need to
develop a strong filial relationship with God through our devotions and daily prayers

THE GIFT OF FEAR OF THE LORD - SYMBOLIZE BY WATER

Water is a symbol of life and purity. Fear of the Lord is the desire above all to please God
and to avoid all that offends Him, who are all good and deserving of all our love.

INTRODUCTORY RITE & PENITENTIAL RITE

Sign of the Cross:
Priest: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
All: Amen

Priest: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy
Spirit be with you all.
All: And with your spirit.
To be worthy to celebrate this sacred meal, let us call our sins and ask the Lord for pardon and strength.

A brief pause for silence follows. Then the priest and the community recite together the formula of general confession.

Commentator: I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned, in
my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do.

And striking 5 her breast, they say:

Through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault

Then they continue:

PRIEST: Therefore I ask blessed Mary ever–Virgin, all the angels and Saints, and to you, my brothers
and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.

May almighty God have mercy on us forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life.
All: Amen
Priest: Let us pray…
OPENING PRAYER:
God of power and mercy, send your Holy Spirit to live in our
hearts and make us temples of his glory. We ask this through our Lord
Jesus Christ, your son who lives and reigns with you and the Holy
Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
All: Amen

FIRST READING: (Ezekiel 36: 25 - 28)

A Reading from the book of the prophet Ezekiel

I will sprinkle clean water upon you to cleanse you from all your
impurities, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. I will give you a new
heart and place a new spirit within you, taking from your bodies your
stony hearts and giving you natural hearts. I will put my spirit within you
and make you live by my statutes, careful to observe my decrees. You shall
live in the land I gave your fathers: you shall be my people, and I will be
your God.
The Word of the Lord.

O Lord my God, you are great indeed!
How manifold are you works, O Lord!
The earth is full of your creatures. R:

2. May the glory of the Lord endure forever,

May the Lord be glad in his works!
Pleasing to Him be my theme,
I will be glad in the Lord. R:

And return to their dust.

GOSPEL: (John 15:18-21, 26-27)

From the Holy Gospel according to John

Jesus said to his disciples:

“If you find that the world hates you, know it has hated me before you. If
you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own; the reason it hates you is
that you do not belong to the world. But I chose you out of the world. Remember
what I told you: no slave is greater than his master. They will harry you as they
harried me. They will respect your words as much as they respected mine. All
this they will do to you because of my name, for they know nothing of him who
sent me. When the Paraclete comes, the Spirit of truth who comes from the
Father and whom I myself will send from the Father he will bear witness on my
behalf. You must bear witness as well, for you have been with me from the
beginning.”

The Gospel of the Lord.

All: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

PROFESSION OF FAITH:
I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in
Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
At the words that follow, up to and including the Virgin Mary, all bow.
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered
under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into
hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into
heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from
there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy

All : Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be
done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our
trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Then he takes the host, breaks it over the paten, and places a small piece in the chalice, saying quietly:
May this mingling of the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ bring eternal life to us who
receive it.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on
us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy
on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, grant us
peace.
The Priest genuflects, takes the host and, holding it slightly raised above the paten or above the chalice, while facing the people,
says aloud:
Priest : Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world.
Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.
And together with the people he adds once:
All : Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word
and my soul shall be healed.

Communion
Then, standing at the altar or at the chair and facing the people, with hands joined, the Priest says:
