Introduction:
Dear brothers and sisters in the Lord Jesus Christ, good morning/afternoon and
welcome to this Eucharistic Celebration where our young brothers and sisters will receive the
Sacrament of Confirmation!
Confirmation is the sacrament of the Holy Spirit. It is our own Pentecost. Through this
sacrament, the Holy Spirit descends upon us to confirm and strengthen us in our Faith that we
may become mature Christians, witnesses of Christ and soldiers of Faith in words and deeds,
until death.
As one family of Christ, we pray that these young men and women, prepared and ready
to accept the Holy Spirit, may truly be mature Christians, witnesses of Christ and soldiers of
Faith. They may be faithful disciples of Jesus, by living and defending our Christian Catholic
Faith especially in times of moral crisis and other forms of divisive conflicts in our society.
Likewise, we also pray for all of us who have come and join this celebration. May this be
an occasion for us to be reminded, that we who once received this same sacrament, are called
to be instruments of God’s love and mercy and be an active members in our communities in
communion with others. May our Blessed Mother, our Lady of Manaoag be our inspiration in
seeking and doing the will of God , our Father.
COMMENTATOR: Please all stand and unite our voices in songs of praise as we welcome
our Mass Presider , the Most Reverend Jose Elmer Mangalinao, DD, -Auxiliary
Bishop of Lingayen-Dagupan, with his concelebrant priest/s as we sing our
entrance hymn.
Introductory Rite
Bishop: In the name of the Father+, and of the Son and of the Holy
Spirit.
All: Amen.
Bishop: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy
Spirit be with you all.
1
Bishop: Brothers and sisters let us acknowledge our sins, and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the
sacred mysteries.
A brief pause for silence
All: I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly
sinned, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have
failed to do. Through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault;
therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the angels and Saints, and you, my
brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.
Bishop: May the almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us
to everlasting life.
All: Amen.
Gloria (sung)
All: Amen.
Liturgy of the Word
On that day, a shoot shall sprout from the stump of Jesse, and from his roots a bud
shall blossom. The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him: a Spirit of wisdom and of
understanding, a Spirit of counsel and of strength, a Spirit of knowledge and of fear of the
LORD, and his delight shall be the fear of the LORD. Not by appearance shall he judge, nor by
hearsay shall he decide, But he shall judge the poor with justice, and decide aright for the
land’s afflicted.
2
Reader: The word of the Lord.
All: Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm: (to be sung)
//You will be my witnesses to all the world.//
Reader: Praise the LORD, all you nations; glorify him, all you peoples!
Reader: For steadfast is his kindness toward us, and the fidelity of the LORD endures forever.
Brothers and sisters: Since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God
through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith to this grace in
which we stand, and we boast in hope of the glory of God.
And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out into our
hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us; For Christ, while we were still
helpless, died at the appointed time for the ungodly. Indeed, only with difficulty does one die
for a just person, though perhaps for a good person one might even find courage to die. But
God proves his love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us.

the Virgin Mary, was crucified, died and was buried, rose again from the

Assisting priests stand near the Bishop who faces the people and says, in these words
or similar;
Bishop: My dear friends, in Baptism God our Father gave the new birth of
eternal life to His chosen sons and daughters.
Let us pray to our Father that He will pour out the Holy Spirit to
strengthen His sons and daughters with His gifts and anoint them to
be more like Christ, the Son of God.
The bishop and the priests who will minister the sacrament with him lay hands upon all
the candidates (by extending their hands over them). The Archbishop alone sings or says:

The deacon brings the chrism to the bishop. Each candidate goes to the Archbishop.

The Bishop dips his right thumb in the chrism and makes the sign of the cross on the

The Bishop may slap the cheek of the candidates to signify Fortitude.
If priests assist the Bishop in conferring the sacrament, all the vessels of chrism are
brought to him by the deacon or by other ministers. Each of the priests comes to the
Archbishop, who gives him a vessel of chrism.
During the anointing, a suitable song may be sung. After the anointing, the bishop and
the priests wash their hands.

the Lord

(Offertory song)
Preparation of the altar
Procession of Gifts
Bishop: Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation. Through your goodness we have this bread to
offer, which earth has given and human hands have made. It will become for us the bread of
life.
7
Bishop: Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation. Through your goodness we have this wine to
offer, fruit of the vine and work of human hands. It will become our spiritual drink.
Bishop: Pray brethren that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God, the almighty
Father.
All: (all stand) May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for praise and glory of His
name, for our good and the good of all His holy church.
Prayer over the Offerings
Bishop: Sanctify, we pray, O Lord, the offerings made here, and cleanse our hearts by the light of
the Holy Spirit. Through Christ our Lord.
All: Amen.
Eucharistic Prayer
Bishop: It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere to give You
thanks, Lord, Holy Father, almighty and eternal God, through Christ our Lord. Ascending
above the heavens and sitting at Your right hand, He poured out the promised Holy Spirit
on Your adopted children. Therefore, now and for ages unending, with all the host of
Angels, we sing to You with all our hearts, crying out as we acclaim:
Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of your
glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the
Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

Consecration
Bishop: You are indeed Holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness. Make holy, therefore, these gifts,
we pray, by sending down you Spirit upon them like the dewfall, so that they may become
for us the Body and + Blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his Passion, he took the
bread and, giving thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: TAKE THIS, ALL
OF YOU, AND EAT OF IT FOR THIS IS MY BODY, WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP
FOR YOU.
In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice and, once more
giving thanks, he gave it to his disciples, saying: TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND
DRINK FROM IT, FOR THIS IS THE CHALICE OF MY BLOOD, THE BLOOD OF
THE NEW AND ETERNAL COVENANT, WHICH WILL BE POURED OUT FOR
YOU AND FOR MANY FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS. DO THIS IN MEMORY
OF ME.
Memorial Acclamation
All: When we eat this Bread and drink this Cup, we proclaim your death, O Lord, until
you come again.
Bishop: Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his Death and Resurrection, we offer you,
Lord, the Bread of life and the Chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held us
worthy to be in your presence and minister to you. Humbly we pray that, partaking of the
Body and Blood of Christ, we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.
Remember, Lord, your Church spread throughout the world, and bring her to the fullness of
charity, together with Francis, our Pope and Socrates, our Archbishop, Elmer his auxiliary
bishop and all the clergy. Remember also, Lord, Your servants whom You have been pleased
to confirm today by bestowing the Holy Spirit, and keep them in Your grace.
Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the
resurrection, and all who have died in your mercy: welcome them into the light of Your face.
Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with the
9
blessed Apostles, and all the Saints who have pleased You throughout the ages, we may merit
to be coheirs to eternal life, and may praise and glorify you, through your Son, Jesus Christ.
Through him, and with him, and in him, O God, almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy
Spirit, all glory and honor is yours, for ever and ever.
Communion Rite
Bishop: At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:
The Lord’s Prayer (to be sung)
Bishop: Deliver us, Lord, we pray from every evil, graciously grant us peace in our days, that by
the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress as we
await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
All: For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
Bishop: Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles: Peace I leave you, my peace I give you,
look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church, and graciously grant her peace and
unity in accordance with your will. Who live and reign for ever and ever.
All: Amen.
Sign of Peace
Bishop: May this mingling of the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ bring life to us
who receive it.
10
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God,
you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take
away the sins of the world, grant us peace.
Bishop: May the receiving of your Body and Blood, Lord Jesus Christ, not bring me to
judgment and condemnation, but through your loving mercy be for me protection in
mind and body and a healing remedy.
Bishop: Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are
those called to the supper of the Lamb.
All: Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but
only say the word and my soul shall be healed.
Bishop: May the Body of Christ keep me safe for eternal life.
May the Blood of Christ keep me safe for eternal life.
Communion
Bishop: What has passed our lips as food, O Lord, may we possess in purity
of heart, that what has been given to us in time may be our healing
for eternity
Accompany with Your blessing from this day forward, O Lord, those who have
been anointed with the Holy Spirit and nourished by the sacrament of Your Son, so that,
with all trials overcome, they may gladden Your Church by their holiness and, through
their works and their charity, foster her growth in the world, through Christ our Lord.
All: Amen.
BLESSING
Instead of the usual blessing at the end of the Mass, the following blessing or prayer
over the people is used.
Bishop: May God the Father almighty bless you, whom He has made His adopted sons
and daughters reborn from water and the Holy Spirit, and may He keep you worthy of
His Fatherly love.
All: Amen.
11
Bishop: May His Only Begotten Son, who promised that the Spirit of Truth would abide in
his Church, bless you, and confirm you by His power in the confession of the true faith.
All: Amen.
Bishop: May the Holy Spirit, who kindles the fire of charity in the hearts of disciples, bless
you and lead you blameless and gathered as one, into the joy of the Kingdom of God.
All: Amen.
Bishop: And may almighty God bless all of you, who are
gathered here, the Father, and the Son, and the Holy
Spirit .
All: Amen.
