Use the DEF Refractometer test, to confirm

DEF quality which would directly cause this
fault in a short amount of time. Also check for
Check DEF Quality hydrocarbon contamination using test paper

Leaks in the exhaust system, or

physical damage may cause
undesirable flow patterns,
temperature loss, or crystal buildup,
Inspect Exhaust System for Leaks and Damage ultimately leading to poor SCR
efficiency. This step is to quickly
look over the system, inspecting for
disconnected or damaged
components.

No Visible Exhaust Leaks proceed to next step

SCR Dosing Test through Guided Diagnostics (2589-08-03-05)

SCR dosing test 2 (120 seconds,60 g) =49-60ml (1.6-2 oz)

SCR dosing test 3 (120 seconds, 240 g)=196-240ml (6.5-8 oz)

Volume within Range Yes/No

If out of range make necessary repairs and confirm Volume again, after volume
has been confirmed within range. Perform a regen to verify repairs.

Diagnostic for NOX Sensor

Sensors OK Yes/No

For NOX sensors check visually inspect for damage to sensor. Perform sensor monitoring
for the outlet NOX if readings are in excess of 510 and confirmed that there are no issues
with engine that could create high NOX replace both NOX sensor perform a regen and
confirm NOX levels are @ a normal range. Normal range for the last part of a regen is
around low triple digits to mid double digits

Confirm no rubs on the pigtail for the EGR diff pressure sensor if sensor wiring has
been rubbed through sensor replacement is required. Check connections make
sure pins are secure without signs of fretting. Check EGR diff pressure sensor
readings with key on engine off should be no more than .3 PSI with engine not
running

Inspect Charge air system for leaks

If leak is found make necessary repairs and confirm repairs

No Charge air leaks proceed to next step

Monitor Sensor Values During a Regen

During a regen you will experience high level of NOX until the
last 5 minutes then we go back under the low NOX evaluation,
then you should see readings in the low triple digits to low
double digits if not then issue is not resolved
