Our Hog Production Program will span one year (24 months) with a base budget of
₱150k and an uplift budget scenario of ₱100k, of which funding expended according to
Table 1 below.
The proposed Livestock program will be executed under five Flagships as follows:
1.Livestock Swine Breeds Selection
2.Livestock health
3.Livestock feeds and forages
4.Livestock and the environment
5.Livestock livelihoods and agri-food systems
The capacity of swine development is interwoven in all aspects of the proposed flagship
program.
Beneficiaries:
poor livestock farmers who want to make a living on farming livestock.
Project Description:
The small ruminant piggery farms are distributed in most localities in Maydolong
E. Samar, where the ambient temperature is high especially during summer and rearing
conditions are bad. Additionally, due to limited infrastructure on the household, the poor
farmers find themselves insisting to take part of their small household to host their
animal from the heat and cold resulting in reducing the quality of their life and increase
the environmental problems inside the households. Additionally, such growing
conditions usually reduce the amount of produced meat product, growth rate, and
fertility of the owned small ruminants. On the other hand, diseases and death rates
increase which affect the income of these severely poor people. Therefore, assisting
those poor farmer households who wants to improve the growing conditions of their
small flocks through rehabilitating the existing farms, sheds, watering and feeding
systems would be extremely beneficial. This will also assist them to provide them with
some additional feed to give to their animals to produce more meat products, which
would improve their food security and increase their income through selling the excess
products.
Project Objectives:
Alleviating the poor living conditions of impoverished and vulnerable agricultural
households in the marginalized areas of Campakirit, Maydolong E. Samar.
Improving vulnerable households’ capacity to produce food for both household
consumption and market.
Increasing capacities and skills of targeted households in agricultural practices,
agricultural planning and decision-making, especially among the women farmers.
Increasing productivity of small farms.
Expected Results:
Up to 100 livestock sheds, with an average area of 30 m² each will be made.
Increasing the productivity of the livestock (meat product)
50 tons of animal feeds distributed to the newly made farms.
increasing the productivity of meat products in brgy. Campakirit
