Competency
Rationale and Description
As part of the One Health Week celebration, the
Department of Education (DepEd), Department of
Health (DOH), and Commission on Population and
Development (POPCOM) on September 09 launched
the Comprehensive Sexuality Education and
Adolescent Reproductive Health (CSE-ARH)
Convergence. This is part of the whole-of-
government response to the ongoing challenges of
high levels of adolescent pregnancies, human
immunodeficiency virus (HIV) or acquired
immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) infection, and
other reproductive health issues among young
people.
The Department of Health (DOH) offers a training program called Adolescent
Health Education and Practical Training (ADEPT) with the goal of enhancing
adolescent health care by bridging the communication gap between young
people and health care providers across the country.

Students who take the course on adolescent reproductive health will be

equipped with the knowledge and skills to keep them healthy and prevent
sex-transmitted illnesses, the HIV, and unintended pregnancies brought on
by carelessness and excessive exposure to social media platforms.

Additionally, this one and a half-hour seminar will focus on maintaining safe
and healthy standards. Thus, through this seminar students will have the
essential knowledge they need to make healthy decisions throughout their
lives if they are aware of the role of adolescents in society.

 The Equal Opportunity Principle (EOP) shall be observed in the process at all
times where all individuals are fully recognized regardless of genders,
religion, ethnicity, and political affiliations.

II. Terminal and Enabling Objectives This activity aims to:

a) Equip the students with knowledge, skills, attitudes and values that will
empower them to realize their health, well-being and dignity;
b) Develop respectful social and sexual relationships; consider how their
choices affect their own well-being and that of others;
c) Ensure the protection of their rights throughout their lives.
