Kalusugan ng Bata, Pahalagahan: Outreach Program for Children

Garantisadong Pambata
Beneficiaries: 100 Children (3-12 yrs) with their attending guardian

Place: Barangay Siling Bata Pandi, Bulacan

I. Background

Over the course of a person's life, child development is a significant determinant of health. Early childhood is a time of significant
opportunity for growth as well as vulnerability to harm. Sources of both resilience and vulnerability influence children's developmental
paths. The long term impact of cushions or burdens on children's developmental well-being is more strong than single known risk factors.
These opportunities will lay a crucial foundation for academic performance, health, and overall well-being for children.

The traits of a child, the family, and the wider societal environment all influence childhood development. School preparation is
based on physical health, as well as cognitive, language, and emotional well-being. Even if only for a short time, such programs are a
shared resource that improves the well-being of early childhood. Programs like the one our group created aim to eliminate the learning
readiness gap between poor and privileged children. Even though the program is only for a short time, systematic reviews of the
academic literature show that it is beneficial in reducing developmental delay, as seen by lower survival in grade and classification in
special education.

Self-regulation, the building of early relationships, effective learning, and the development of specific abilities are all important
aspects of child development. Individual neurobiology, interpersonal relationships, and physical and psychosocial experiences in their
environment all influence these variables. The connection between a child's social environment has a significant impact on his or her
readiness to learn and academic success, both of which are antecedents to long-term health outcomes. Premature birth, low birth weight,
consequences of childhood illnesses, and lead poisoning are all well-known risk factors for developmental dysfunction, but exposure to
an economically disadvantaged environment is also acknowledged as a social risk factor. Early in life, the socioeconomic gradient is
reflected in psychological and behavioral development.

Childhood development programs must be implemented as it’s the foundation for global progress and the nation's ability to meet
its economic growth goals by improving children's development opportunities, promoting parental training and mindfulness raising
efforts, and cultivating intellectual and social growth that will help them grow in a matter of time.

1
II. Rationale and Significance

Children are among the most vulnerable population groups in society. In 2015,31.4 percent of children belonged to poor families.
Hence, there is really a need to look after their survival and living conditions, health and education as their rights, welfare and
development are at the core of the country’s social development goals.

As our children are our nation’s future, the importance of statistics on children cannot be overemphasized. Statistics on children
provides various data about the current situation of Filipino children. A database containing multi-dimensional information (e.g.,
indicators on health, education, labor, among others), links to updated and relevant statistics, an archive of studies and relevant research
and a list of websites of concerned agencies has been compiled and made accessible to users. This was made in order to equip users with
the means to understand the social, economic and environmental dimensions of issues related to children in the hopes of transforming
these data into usable information and evidence-based policy decisions.Further, the statistics on children aid policy- and decision-makers
in crafting policies, programs and interventions towards human development and sustainable social progress.

Lack of focus on child development can include cognitive delays, stunting of physical growth, impairments in executive function
and self-regulation skills, and disruptions of the body's stress response. And as the majority of the children, communities under poverty
line struggle with an educational disadvantage which hamper their growth, to manage these crises it is necessary to develop capacity for
developing different programs and also involve communities based institutions, to work together on removing all form of
barriers.Interventions that improve children’s opportunities to learn and develop capacity are particularly important for children in
communities disadvantaged by high rates of poverty, violence, substance abuse, and physical and social disorder.

Outreach programs can assess the quality and availability of early childhood development programs in terms of local needs and
resources and can use the Task Force recommendation to advocate for continued or expanded funding of early childhood development
programs. Current levels of federal and state funding are not adequate to support accessible quality services for the number of at-risk
children who would benefit from participation but at least programs like this can lessen one of its burdens. Child health advocates from
all disciplines can use this recommendation to develop testimony for those making policy and funding decisions about the effectiveness
of these programs. Healthcare providers can use the recommendation to promote participation in an early childhood development
program as part of well-child care. By implementing our programs, Public health agencies can use the Task Force recommendation to

2
inform the community about the importance of early childhood development opportunities and their long-lasting effects on children’s
well-being and ability to learn.

In this Project Proposal we learned various methods for the design of an outreach program. An outreach program development
and academic service learning support for the children. Its purpose is to help those children to achieve their rights as a person through a
series of many activities that they will surely enjoy during the program. This project will also discuss personality development and learn
how to take care of themselves by becoming healthy and responsible. Through this program, it will teach and be a model for the young
ones to do good deeds to others. To accomplish this mission it has several objectives which are planned to be achieved within
corresponding and successive phases: To help those less fortunate and the desire to make the community a better place in which to live.
The program mission is to enlighten the mind of each child to be a better person.

Garantisadong Pambata: Outreach Program for Children proposed of Personality Development, health & hygiene, Spiritual needs,
feeding program and giving simple gift to the children allocated for forty (100) children, with the goal of : to educate young people about
their awareness, to help them for the things that they are not totally aware, to give happiness and also for them to feel loved even in a
short period of time.

X. Evaluation

Planning and execution are important when running a project, but evaluation is also required. Evaluating a project is about
looking critically at what is happening in the project and making a judgement about its value, worth or benefit. Before the project is
officially finished, it is necessary to carry out an evaluation to assess the overall performance of the project. The scope of evaluation
includes not only the results but also the carefully monitored project preparation and actual implementation. The participants in the
evaluation are: attending Guardians of the children, Health care professionals who participated and the organizers.
