A Mother’s Du’a is
the breeze of Paradise

@i.needdeen
“Motherhood is full of blessings and equally full of challenges.
There are ups and downs every day, but if you learn to keep your relationship
with Allah (swt) at the center of your motherhood journey,
you’ll not only thrive as a mother yourself but also pass on this reliance,
this Tawakkul and trust, to your children as well.”

A letter to our Children
(Shaykh Yahya Ibrahim)

My children, there is only One God.

All that exists belongs to Him as He is the Originator of all.

He, subhanahu, alone is worthy of worship and all other deities are to be shunned.
Laa illah illa Allah. He, the Mighty and the Majestic, is the Creator of all things
big and small.

Out of nothing, He, subhanahu (Most Glorious), made everything. He has

knowledge of all things, not even a leaf flutters to the ground without His
foreknowledge of its descent.

He, subhanahu, knows what was, what is, what will be, and what would be even
though it will never come into reality.

He is the Provider for all. None can gain what He has not set. None can push back
what He has brought forth.

Allah is ar Rahman ar Raheem – The Merciful to All, the Especially Merciful to

those who distinguish themselves in obedience to Him.
Do not join anything with Him in that which Only He deserves.

My children, establish your prayers regularly and with humility. Nothing in your
life is more important than your Salaat. Prayer is your connection to Allah.
Insha allah, I will teach you what to say and the Quran to recite in your prayers.
I will teach you the times and the rules and regulations.
I will enforce it upon you by praying with you, and behind you as your mature.
I will remind you often of its importance and form so as to remind myself of it.
There will be times when your faith fails and your Salaat begins to slip away from
you. Return to Allah quickly and make up that which you miss.
I pray for your success in this.

My children, feel the hunger and thirst of others. Wealth, health, prosperity are all
governed by the Decree of Allah. If we are prosperous now, we thank and praise
Allah. Tomorrow may not be the same as today. If you are less fortunate in days
to come, be patient and equally thank Allah and praise Him. Put your trust in
Allah and work hard as taught to us by His Messenger (SAW).

To avert poverty give to others from the bounties bestowed upon you by Allah,
treat your mother well, and spend your money in that which is permitted. Give
loans to those who ask, and repay quickly those you owe. All the while, be content
with the meagre and generous with your excess.

Speak well of Allah’s Grace upon you and be charitable to your neighbours,
family and community.

Ask forgiveness from those you harm and repent to Allah.

If all you have is but a single meal and your neighbour hungers, split it in half.
That, my children, is prosperity.

My children, seek knowledge and find ways to apply it. Learn something about
everything. Familiarise yourself with all the sciences that surround us in life and
the things you encounter regularly. All the while search for something you seek to
know everything about and delve deeply into it. Knowledge is a torch that
illuminates your path. It is power. Develop a love for solving problems,
unravelling mathematics and appreciating literature.
The more you read the better.

I pray that Allah grants me life to instruct you in the Quran – the Sacred Truth.
Its message is peace, its words are holy and its script is revered. I will read with
you, for many years the Quran, page by page, ayah by ayah,
and word by word, insha Allah.

It is through the Quran that you must view the world. It will lead you upon the
straight path that has been tread upon by the virtuous. The limits you set for
yourself and the boundaries I will establish are that of the Quran.

The Quran is Truth.

My children, as you mature you will come to realise that life is not easy and Allah
will test you every so often. The more you read of the life of the Messenger
Muhammed (SAW) and seek to follow his tradition of life, the more resilient you
will be in the face of adversity. Any kind of hardship you can envision and pray to
never face was shouldered by him, Salaa allahu ‘alihi was Salim, simultaneously.
He experienced, in his 63 years of blessed life more tribulation than a cohort.
He, Salaa allahu ‘alihi was Salim, was an orphan, a widower, battle scarred, and
unjustly outcast. He outlived many of his children and buried some of his
grandchildren. His uncle, the Mercy of Allah be upon him, was martyred and his
body desecrated. He, Salaa allahu ‘alihi was Salim, was defamed, mocked, lied to
and about. He was poisoned, stoned, and had to witness his companions tortured
on account of their faith in his Message, Salaa allahu ‘alihi was Salim.

My children, know that your faith in Allah must manifest itself in your character.
Tawheed builds Character. Speak the truth always, even if against yourself. Avert
your eyes from immorality, pornography and junk TV.

Keep your chastity and guard yourself from any stage of sexual immorality. Know
that a friend is a window to your soul. Follow your heart and be true to your
firasah (instint). Be just, firm and gentle in your dealings. When you are hurt,
recover quickly and thank Allah for the difficulty that extinguishes sin. When you
are well and all seems to be at peace, be vigilant and anticipate a brewing storm.

When you err, repent to Allah and seek not to conceal it from me by lying or
deception. The greatest lessons you will learn will be through your naive
misjudgement of peoples’ character, your over confidence and because you did not
heed our advice as your parents.

When you err, we are there. As bad as you may think it is and as embarrassing as
you may find it, step up to me and I will run over to you. Know that you are
brothers and sisters to one another. If your friends slights one of you, it is as if he
slighted all of you. Together you must remain as one.

My children, if pushed, push back harder. In life you must hit back. Let no one
assume you weak on account of your spiritual inner peace.

Learn to negotiate and compromise and dialogue while attaining your objective.
Violence is not a solution. Peace does not mean fragility. Be sturdy, humble,
durable and reflective.

My children, remember that your mother carried you and sustained you in her
own body. For nine months she protected you and nurtured you. She loved you
with an amazing intensity all throughout.
The day of your birth and all the days that followed have only increased that
love.

Your illness is our illness, your success is our success.

Know my children that I possess nothing of the dunya that is equal to you.

I love you and will continue to love you as long as I live.

Eventually, insha Allah, you will have children of your own. Make sure you write
them a letter.

I ask Allah to grant me life, health and ability to educate you as my father and
mother educated me.

I ask Allah to put love in your hearts for humanity and to use you in the assistance
of others.

I ask Allah to protect you and honour you with al-Quran.

I ask Allah to increase your rizq, lifespan and allow you happiness in this dunya
and in the akhira.

Allahumma Ameen
9 Essential Du’as
Every Muslim Mom Should Know
(Khadija Khan - www.carenest.org)

Dua for when your heart melts at your child’s smile.

There are few things in the world sweeter than the adorable, innocent smile of
your baby. As a mom, you’re always praying for your children’s happiness anyway,
and what better way to make Dua for them than in these beautiful words.

‫أﺿْ َﺤ َﻚ اﻟﻠّ ُﻪ ِﺳ ﱠﻨ َﻚ‬

May Allah always keep you smiling. [Sahih Bukhari]

Dua for Barakah in sustenance.

Since the very first thing you’ll be feeding your newborn is milk, learn this short
Sunnah Dua to recite for Barakah every time you feed him/her.

O Allah, bless it for us and give us more of it. [Sunan Ibn Majah]
Dua for warding off the evil eye.

The Prophet (saw) confirmed that the evil eye is a source of misfortune

Children are especially vulnerable to the evil eye, so you should make it a habit to
recite this Dua 3x every morning and evening to protect them.

‫ﺎت ِﻣ ْﻦ َ ﱢ‬
‫ﴍ َﻣﺎ َﺧ َﻠ َﻖ‬
I seek refuge in the Perfect Word of Allah from the evil of what He has created.
[Sahih Muslim]

Dua for being grateful and having faithful children.

This Dua is a bit on the longer side, but the meaning is so beautiful that it’s well
worth the effort to learn it by heart and recite it for the health and Imaan
of your children.

My Lord, grant me that I offer gratitude for the favour You have bestowed upon me
and upon my parents, and that I do righteous deeds that You like. And set righteousness,
for my sake, in my progeny. Of course, I repent to you, and truly
I am one of those who submit to You. [46:15]
Dua for when your child gets hurt or falls sick.

Whenever your child comes running to you because they have fallen down and hurt
themselves, or when they get ill, you should say Bismillah 3x and recite this Dua 7x:

‫ﴍ َﻣﺎ أَﺟِ ُﺪ َوأُ َﺣﺎ ِذ ُر‬

‫أَ ُﻋﻮ ُذ ِﺑ ِﻌ ﱠﺰ ِة اﻟﻠﱠ ِﻪ َو ُﻗ ْﺪ َرﺗِ ِﻪ ِﻣ ْﻦ َ ﱢ‬
I seek refuge with Allah and with His Power from the evil that afflicts me and that
which I apprehend. [Sahih Muslim]

Dua for having a happy, righteous family.

This is the Quranic Dua you should frequently recite to have a peaceful home
environment, righteous children, and a loving spouse. Recite it at least once after every
Salah and notice the positive difference in your family life.

Our Lord, Give us, from our spouses and our children, comfort of eyes, and make us
heads of the God-fearing. [25:72]

Dua for when you feel overwhelmed

As a mother, you’re bound to feel frustrated and exhausted from time to time. When
the chores have piled up, the kids are sick, and you aren’t doing too well yourself, this is
the powerful Dua you should recite from the depths of your heart.

ْ ِ ‫ﻮب َﻓﺎﻧ َﺘ‬

My Lord, indeed I am overwhelmed so help me. [54:10]
Dua for entrusting your child to Allah (swt).

This is the Dua that Sayyidatana Maryam’s (as) mother recited to entrust her daughter
in Allah’s care. As Muslim moms, we should recite it for our children as well, to protect
them and our future generations against Shaytan and other evils.

I seek refuge for her in You and [for] her descendants from Satan, the rejected. [3:36]

Dua for effectively managing your responsibilities

Nothing is possible without His help. Recite the following Dua for Barakah in your time
and health so you’re able to successfully manage all of your responsibilities in
the best manner possible.

O Allah! It is Your mercy that I yearn for, so do not abandon me for even the blink of an
eye, and rectify for me all of my affairs. None has the right to be worshiped except You.
[Sunan Abi Dawud]

Beseech His mercy and beg Him to always be with you. If you have His
support and guidance, you can get through even the toughest times with ease!
A Mother’s Du’a for her Children and
their futures

Oh Allah, please don't let me become self-satisfied and arrogant in my parenting,

but please don't humble me or shame me through my children's misdeeds either.

Oh Allah let me always give credit for their good character to You
and don't ever let me stop praying for them.

Oh Allah, grant my children noble professions with halaal incomes that give them
respect and dignity in Your Eyes
and in the eyes of their fellow human beings

Oh Allah, protect my children from debt.

Make them givers and not takers.

Ameen
My Lord, Allah bless my children. And enable them to obey you and make them
kind towards me.
Ya Allah you were the Teacher of Moses and Adam, so teach my kids too.
Bestow them with knowledge.
You gave beneficial knowledge to Suleiman so give my kids beneficial knowledge
too.
You were the Giver of hikmah and authentic, decisive speech to Luqman.
So give them hikmah and authentic, decisive speech too.
Teach them what they are ignorant and remind them of what they forget.
Open on them (the doors of) barakah from the skies and from beneath.
Indeed You are the listener and the One who replies and accepts dua.

Ameen.

Oh Allah, surround her with those whom You love in this world and the next
Make her kind, humble, patient, grateful and one who remembers You often
Oh Allah, let her be loved by people wherever she goes,
And make her on who loves and upholds the Sunnah of Your beloved PBUH
Oh Allah, make her amongst those who love the Qur’an and who love to pray
Oh Allah keep her close to You, always
And let her grow to be now who weeps at night upon You remembrance
Protect, bless and guide her always
Oh Allah, make her the coolness of our eyes

Ameen ya Rabbi
Back to School Du’a

Our Lord, keep our beloved children, our gifts from You, under Your perfect
protection.
Keep them safe from all harm: known and unknown, visible and invisible.
Cover them with Your mercy and envelope them with Your light.
Illum
inate them so that they may be beacons of hope in their communities.

Help them to be good company and to be in good company - to have friends that
help them and not harm them.

Grant them every success, happiness, steadfastness and peace.

O Allah, I ask that you bless them with Your love and the love of those who love
You, and for the love of every deed which brings them nearer to Your love.

O our Sustainer! Grant that our spouses and our offspring be a joy to our eyes, and
cause us to be foremost among those who are conscious of You!
(Qur'an 25:74)

And send Your mercy on the Unlettered Prophet

Muhammad and on his family and shower him with peace.
Ameen.
The Powerful Du’a of a Parent
In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful
All praises are for Allah SWT, the most Compassionate, the most Forgiving.

Salutations and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad SAW,

his family and companions.

Oh Allah, I submit myself to You.

I realise that parenting a child is a very difficult task
and I turn to You in humility for Your help.
I implore You for Your wisdom and guidance.
Oh Allah, I know that our children are an amaanah from You,
to care for and to raise in a manner that is pleasing to You.
Help me do that in the best way.
Teach me how to love in a way that You would have me love.
Help me where I need to be healed, improved, nurtured, and made whole.
Help me walk in righteousness and integrity so that
You may always be pleased with me.
Allow me to be a God-fearing role model with all
the communication, teaching, and nurturing skills that I may need.
Oh Allah, You know what our children need.
Help and guide us in praying for our children.
Oh Allah, put a hedge of safety around our children.
Protect their bodies, minds, and emotions from any kind of evil and harm.
Oh Allah, I pray that You protect them from accidents, diseases, injuries, and any
other physical, mental, or emotional afflictions and abuse.
Oh Allah, I pray that You keep our children free from any addictions and vices.
Draw them close to You for protection from every ill and evil influence of our
society, whether it’s apparent to us or not.
Oh Allah, grant them the best of company as their friends — people who will
inspire them to love and worship and obey You.
Oh Allah, grant our children hidaaya and a heart that loves to obey You.
Shine Your light on any secret or unseen rebellion in their hearts and destroy it
before it takes root.
Oh Allah, guide them away from any pride, selfishness, jealousy, hypocrisy, malice,
and greed and make them uncomfortable with sins.
Penetrate their hearts with Your love and reverence today and always.
Oh Allah, make apparent to them the truth in any situation and let them not be
misled by falsehood.
Oh Allah, grant our children the ability to make clear decisions and let them
always be attracted to good things that are pure, noble, true, and just.
Oh Allah, guide them in making choices that please You.
Oh Allah, help them to taste the sweetness of walking with a humble spirit in
obedience and submission to You.
Oh Allah, grant them the wisdom to choose their words carefully and bless them
with a generous and caring spirit.
Oh Allah, I pray that they never stray from the path of deen and that You give
them a future filled with Your best promises.
Oh Allah, always keep our children cleansed and pure from evil and shaytaan.
Oh Allah, keep them steadfast in establishing Salaah
and help them revere the Glorious Quran as Your Word and Law and to read it
with understanding daily.
Let it be their source of light and guidance.
Oh Allah, let our daughters love wearing hijab
and our sons the dress of a humble Muslim.
Let their dress be a representation of their Imaan
and of their love and respect for Your commands.
Lead them to a position where they rely truly on Your power alone
and fear You in the open and in secret.
Oh Allah, make them so strong in their deen that they never encounter doubt.
Oh Allah, do not allow any negative attitudes in the place of our children’s lives.
Oh Allah, guide our children in honouring and obeying You, Your Rasool (Peace
and Blessings be upon him),
and us as parents (when we are commanding that which is pleasing to You).
Make them the coolness of our eyes.
Oh Allah, fill our children with compassion and caring that will overflow to each
member of our family.
Oh Allah, grant them piety.
Oh Allah, help them love, value, appreciate, and respect one another with good
communication between them always.
Oh Allah, drive out any division between our children and bring them healing.
I pray there be no strain, breach, misunderstanding, arguing, fighting, or severing
of ties.
Oh Allah, allow them to one day marry righteous, God-fearing, kind, hard-
working, intelligent, beautiful, healthy spouses who get along with and respect and
love (and genuinely enjoy) every member of our family and who lead our children
(i.e. their spouses) even closer to You and Jannat ul Firdaus.
Oh Allah, please grant me the company of pious friends, relatives, extended
community members, and teachers who will be inspirational role models for my
children and will help me raise them to be the best of believers.
Oh Allah, please don’t let me become self-satisfied and arrogant in my parenting,
but please don’t humble me or shame me through my children’s misdeeds either.
Please let me always give credit for their good character to You
and please don’t ever let me stop praying for them.
Oh Allah, please don’t let my children be “late” in meeting any of life’s milestones
that are expected of them.
Oh Allah, protect my children from debt. Make them givers and not takers.
Oh Allah, grant my children noble professions with halal incomes that give them
respect and dignity in Your Eyes and in the eyes of their fellow human beings.
Oh Allah, grant them worldly comfort so that my children can come to You
through the Door of Gratitude and so that they are not forced to come to You
through the Door of Patience.
Please let them always be grateful…and patient.
Oh Allah, I pray for a close, loving, happy and fulfilling relationship with them for
all the days of our lives and to be reunited with them in Jannat ul Firdaus.

misguidance as consequence of their devotion to You

that blesses them and I.

My Lord I entrust You with my progeny, for no trust is lost with You.

me on the Day of Judgement.
~ Ameen, my Lord, Ameen ~
Your children are given to you in trust.
They are an amanah. You will have to account for
how you treated them and how you made them
feel. Take this responsibility very seriously and
instil in them the confidence, strength and
courage they need to succeed in the world. You
will be asked about your treatment of your kids.

May your parenting a continuous source

good deeds.
