Every year I have a habit of saying that this was my best summer, but I don't think I am lying now if I

say that it really is. It all started from going to the sea. Five of the most wonderful days of the year
with my two best friends. We were in Malaga. The very fact that I went together with the two of
them speaks for itself. But as they say, what happens in Malaga, stays in Malaga. As we returned to
our home in Barcelona, I wanted to go back, or at least stay a little longer. However, I got over it
pretty soon. I knew that an exciting holiday was waiting for me at home. Well, summer just started. I
didn't wait long for a new chance for adventures. Maria Jose, a friend from Madrid, invited me to her
place. I was excited. It sounded a little weird, but there seems to be something special about this
city. The invitation itself seemed impossible to refuse. Not long after, I went to Maria Jose. As it
began, so it continued, full of surprises. We didn't use technology that much. On the first day, we
immediately went to the city market. The city market itself is not that big, but it is one of the most
beautifully decorated in the region. However, that wasn't the best part, and it's definitely not what I
want to write about. For that I had to go a little further from the market. The father of Maria Jose's
cousin is the owner of the hippodrome, and he invited us on a trip together with a couple of other
friends. It's safe to say that I was excited. Santiago, Maria Jose's cousin, came to pick us up and we
went to the hippodrome together. At the hippodrome, they already prepared horses for us to ride.
We started riding very early. The beginning was really a bit painful, but I got used to it quickly, with
Santiago's help of course. There were eight of us in the group. We rode for about an hour through
forests and fields until we finally reached our destination. We stopped for a long time. We took out
the barbecue and groceries from home, which they said Santiago prepared the night before. Only
now did I notice how much he actually tries. I just didn't understand why it was like that, after all,
they are all his old friends. He didn't have to do everything on his own. With barbecue, songs,
volleyball and all kinds of nonsense, we spent wonderful seven hours, but it seemed like only a few
minutes. When we packed everything and headed back, that old and familiar feeling awoke again.
Only when I was leaving, Santiago came up to me and said that we are not going back the same way,
so he stayed riding next to me. Everyone else went ahead of us and we didn't even notice that the
two of us were riding together. No one, except Maria Jose who turned and gave me a long and
meaningful look, smiled and turned forward again. You could feel some tension in the air. He
decided to break the awkward silence and asked how I liked the trip.

- I don't know when was the last time I had such a good time.

- I would like to ask you something, I hope I won't surprise you. - he answered after a short pause.

-Of course you can. - I said trying to hide my blushing. Something was bothering me all day. Is it
possible that he tried so hard just for me?

- Today you looked at me somehow strangely, I got the impression that you decided what you think
about me a long time ago.

He surprised me. I really did not expect this.

-You're right. I have my opinion about you, just make sure you don't ruin it. - I answered with a
smile.

- So you have a nice and positive opinion about me?

- Is it so obvious? - I asked.
- But now you look as if something else is bothering you. - he spoke again after a short break. He
really thinks about what he's going to say. He seems like a very intelligent guy.

I thought a little about what to say to him. It really bothered me, but I didn't know how to ask him,
so I changed the subject a bit. After a few minutes of silence, he spoke again, and returned the topic
to the original one.

- You didn't answer me, sorry if I'm boring, but you look like something is bothering you.

- Well, you're right. I am having something on my mind for a long time.- I answered and instantly
blushed. I was embarrassed, but he said it was better if I asked, so I continued.

- Why did you work so hard for all of your old friends?

-Who said it was because of them?- he was trying to be mysterious, and at the same time to reveal
something to me. I was interested in this, and I felt butterflies in my stomach.

- Then why? - I asked again.

He just looked at me and laughed.

We didn't talk for the rest of the way until we reached a small river. He told me not to look down,
but it wouldn't be me if I ever listened. As the horse stepped into the river and started to cross, I
immediately looked down. I started to feel dizzy from the small waves. Luckily, Santiago noticed it.

He came up to me and pulled me to him. He hugged me hard enough that I couldn't pull away, but I
didn't want to either. It was nice. When we finally crossed the river, he let me go, but I took his hand
and didn't want to let go. Luckily, the others were ahead of us so they didn't even notice what
happened. When we finally arrived and joined them, the teasing began, as if we were little children.
But it was cute. The next day, I returned back home, but that few days were the highlight of my
summer break. In today's world full of 'adults' it is nice to introduce a little child's perspective on
things.
