1. BOREHOLE SITES VISIT

After borehole drilling at Chikoli, STS drilling and Exploration could not proceed to drill the four
boreholes that are around Habbanyuka area. According to the drivers, it became needful to first
determine road accessibility to the four sites before proceeding with the drilling Rig and the
support truck.
In order to ascertain borehole sites accessibility by the drilling rig and support vehicle, the Water
and Sanitation Coordinator, STS drilling and exploration Driller and driver visited seven (07)
borehole sites on 29th and 30th May, 2023.
The boreholes sites are among the 20 sites that were recommended for borehole drilling with
World Vision support. Four sites namely Sitima, Muchindu, Kapika and Hanseele are found in
Hamaundu Chiefdom - Hamaundu AP while the three sites; Bbanga Community School,
Hachiduntula – Lwaanga and Muloongo are found in Moyo Chiefdom - Moyo AP.

2. FINDINGS
Pemba-Habbanyuka Road that leads to Sitima, Hanseele, Kapika and Muchidu villages has a
portion that is too steep for heavy vehicles such the Drilling Rig and heavily loaded support vehicle
to pass through.
Steep stretches and depressions that characterizes Habbanyula - Hanseele and Habbanyuka -
Muchindu roads pose a huge challenge for the drilling Rig and support vehicle to reach the sites.
Roads that lead to Sitima and Kapika do have some depression (at stream crossing points) that
may make it not easy to reach the sites.
The road to Bbanga Community School is very steep such that heavy vehicles may have a huge
challenge to reach the site.
 3. RECOMMENDATIONS
Conduct borehole sites visit by all would be contractors before submission of bids.
Capital investment to rehabilitate Pemba - Habbanyuka and Moyo-Bbanga Community
School roads.
Relocate Sitima, Hanseele, Kapika, Muchindu, Bbanga Community School and
Hachiduntula-Lwaanga borehole sites to sites that can be easily accessed by the Drilling
Rig.
