1.WISH ở hiện tại

(+): S + wish(es) + S + V2/-ed + O (to be: were / weren’t)
(-): S + wish(es) + S + didn’t + V1
= IF ONLY + S+ V (simple past)
Eg: _ I wish I knew the answer to this question (Tôi ước tôi biết trả lời câu hỏi đó).
_ I wish I didn't have so much work to do (Tôi ước tôi không có nhiều bài tập
để làm)
_If only she were here. (The fact is that she isn’t here).
2. WISH ở quá khứ
(+): S + wish(es) + S + had + V3/-ed
(-): S + wish(es) + S + hadn’t + V3/-ed
= IF ONLY + S + had + V3/-ed
S + WISH + S + COULD HAVE + V3/-ed = IF ONLY + S + COULD HAVE + V3/-ed

Eg: _ If only I had gone by taxi. (I didn’t go by taxi).

_ I wish I hadn’t failed my exam last year. (I failed my exam).
_ She wishes she could have been there. (She couldn’t be there.)

3. WISH ở tương lai

(+): S+ wish(es) + S + would + V1
(-): S + wish(es) + S + wouldn’t + V1
= IF ONLY + S + would/ could + V (bare-infinitive)
Eg: _ I wish you wouldn’t leave your clothes all over the floor.
_ I wish I would be an astronaut in the future.
_If only I would take the trip with you next week.
