SAKARYA UNIVERSITY

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT EXAM (SAKARYA - YOS) GUIDE

1. GENERAL INFORMATION, BASIC PRINCIPLES AND RULES

1.1. Sakarya University International Student Exam (SAKARYA YOS) is an exam carried out
by Sakarya University and taken by foreign or overseas students interested in studying at
Sakarya University. The results of Sakarya YOS can be used by the candidate students to apply
for Sakarya University or for other universities listing the Sakarya YOS as one of the accepted
exams. SAKARYA YOS 2023 will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 15.00 according to
local time in Türkiye.

As SAKARYA YOS will also be held in examination centers outside Türkiye, the related local
time exam hours will be announced on the official website of the university,
http://yos.sakarya.edu.tr. It must be kept in mind that SAKARYA YOS will be carried out
exactly at the same time in the all exam centers.

1.2. This guide covers the rules which have to be followed by the foreign or overseas candidates
who would like to apply to study at Sakarya University for the academic year of 2023-2024.

1.3. The result certificate of Sakarya University YOS 2023

1.4. is valid until the last day of the following year after exam date.

1.5. Turkish and English are used as the official communication languages between Sakarya
University and the candidates.

1.6. The applications for the exam can be done between 20th of January, 2023 – 02th of
April, 2023 and can only be made on-line via the official web site. Sakarya University reserves
the right to extend the deadlines.

1.7. After filling the the application form, your Application Number will automatically be sent
to your e-mail address.

1.8. You are asked to pay the exam fee into the official bank account of Rectorate of Sakarya
University by declaring your application number within the application period time.

1.9. Log in the system and upload the bank receipt image.
1.10.The applicants whose applications are approved must print the Examination Admission
Document from their own Application Account. The applicants must have their Examination
Admission Documents and their valid passports or ID cards with them to enter the exam.

1.11. The applicants who have lost their Examination Admission Document can reprint their
documents by relogging to their own Application Account

1.12. The SAKARYA YOS result can only be used to apply for the quotas of Associate Degree
and Undergraduate Degree Programs. It cannot be used in the transfer transactions of students
studying at an institution of higher education or in the selection and placement transactions of
those who would like to receive post-graduate education.

1.13. The applicants who have to travel for taking part in SAKARYA YOS are supposed to
meet their own needs, such as residence permit, accommodation, subsistence etc.

1.14. The application fee paid by the applicants cannot be transferred to the following years.
The application is considered to be invalid if the examination fee has not been paid. The exam
payment of candidates will not be refunded in these situations: The candidates who give up the
application even though they have paid, who pay more than one fee, whose application is
deemed invalid, who did not not take the exam or who were not accepted or were excluded
from the exam and who failed the exam and who pay a fee for a transaction that do not requires
payments.

1.15. The rules declared in this guide can be changed if it is necessary only by the decisions of
the legislative, executive and judicial bodies; the Higher Education Council and the Evaluation
Board and Sakarya University (SAU) Executive Board and Senate. The procedure to be
followed under these circumstances is to be determined by SAU. Actions regarding the issues
not covered in this guide are to be taken in accordance with the decisions of SAU Senate.

1.16. The SAKARYA YOS exam guide will be avaliable only on-line and not be published or
distributed.

2. APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

All the applications either from Türkiye or abroad must be done through the following link:
https://yos.sakarya.edu.tr/en/ The applications will be accepted only within the application
period.
After the placement according to the results of the SAKARYA YÖS exam, it is mandatory to
meet the conditions stated in 2.1 in order to enroll to a program.

The candidates who do not deliver the required documents during registration period can not
enroll to Sakarya University.

2.1. The candidates who are in the last year of high school or graduated;

a) The candidates who have foreign citizenship

b) The candidates born as Turkish citizens and later permitted by the Ministry of the Interior of
Türkiye to leave Turkish citizenship and including their underage children who are registered in
the document of leaving Turkish citizenship and who can indicate that they have this document
relating to the Exercise of Given Rights according to the Turkish Nationality Law. (The 7th
article of the Turkish Nationality Law numbered 5901 prescribes that “(1) an infant was born
from the marriage of a mother or a father having Turkish citizenship inside or outside Türkiye
is a Turkish citizen”; applicants who would like to apply for the quotas of foreign admission
should further review the Turkish Nationality Law.)

c) The candidates who used to have a foreign citizenship but later have acquired Turkish
citizenship/those who have a dual citizenship under these circumstances,

d) i- The Turkish candidates who continued their secondary education (high school) abroad
before 01/02/2013, and those who completed the last three years of their secondary education
in a foreign country except TRNC. (including those who completed their secondary education
in Turkish schools opened by the Turkish Ministry of Education in a foreign country except
TRNC)

ii- The candidates who started their secondary education (high school) abroad after 01/02/2013
and completed their secondary education in a foreign country except TRNC (including the
candidates who completed their secondary education in Turkish schools in a foreign country
except TRNC),

e) The candidates who have TRNC citizenships, reside in TRNC and have completed their
secondary education (high school) in TRNC and have GCE AL (The General Certificate of
Education-Advanced Level) exam results and The applications of candidates, who have or will
have GCE AL exam results by enrolling and studying at colleges and high schools in other
countries between 2005-2010, are accepted.
2.2) Applications of candidates who meet the qualifications in this article are not accepted.

a) The candidates who are citizens of the Republic of Türkiye and have completed their
secondary education (high school) in Türkiye or in TRNC,

b) The candidates who have TRNC citizenship (excluding those who have completed secondary
education at TRNC high schools and have obtained GCE AL degree and the candidates who
have or will have GCE AL degrees after registering in the colleges or high schools in other
countries between 2005 and 2010),

c) Dual citizens whose first citizenship is Turkish from birth, as prescribed in article 2.1./b of
this guide (except those who fulfill the requirements in 2.1/d),

d) Dual citizens who have TRNC citizenship (excluding those who have completed secondary
education at TRNC high schools and have obtained GCE AL degree and those who have or will
have GCE AL degrees by registering in the colleges or high schools in other countries between
2005 and 2010),

e) The candidates who are Turkish citizens or have dual citizenship or those whose first
citizenship is Turkish as prescribed in the article 2.1./b of this guide and have studied or are
currently studying at foreign embassy schools or foreign high schools in Türkiye.

3. APPLICATION PROCEDURE

3.1. The candidates must carefully fill in the Candidate Application Form at
http://yos.sakarya.edu.tr during the application period and get the candidate number.

3.2. The candidates have to accurately and completely submit all the information requested in
the on-line application form without modification or abbreviation. (including dual citizenship,
nationality, blue card, passport, identity information) The candidates’ registrations having
incomplete or incorrect information will be canceled even if the registration process has been
completed.

3.3. The e-mail address required in the application form must belong to the applicant and every
applicant must provide only one e-mail address. The e-mail address in question must not be
used for correspondence or transactions on behalf of other applicants.

3.4. The digital version of the applicant’s self-photo must be attached to the relevant section on
the application form. As this photo is going to be printed on the Examination Admission
Document and the Examination Result Document, the photo must be taken in the last six months
and from the front view, ensuring that the applicant is easily recognizable. The applicant must
avoid making significant changes in his or her appearance in a way which can make him or her
less recognizable on the exam day. It must be taken into consideration that if the Head of the
Examination Hall finds difficulty in recognizing the identity of the applicant, s/he has the right
to exempt the applicant from the examination.

3.5. The candidate number will be sent to the e-mail of the candidate who has completed and
registered the application form.

3.6. The Applicant number can only be acquired once. The candidate number should carefully
be kept by the candidate, as it will be required both for this exam and for all transactions that
the candidate will have with Sakarya University.

3.7. Once the candidate number is given, it is obligatory to indicate the "candidate number"
with any correspondence with Sakarya University. The related requests or petitions without a
candidate number are not processed.

3.8. The candidates, who will apply to SAKARYA YOS, are able to pay the exam fee during
the application period by credit card or by EFT/money order through the information given
below.

Please do not forget to write the ID Number of the applicant for the explanation section during
payment process!!!
The candidates will pay the fees determined according to the exam centers below.

3.9. Having paid the exam fee, please enter the candidate transactions panel and upload
the image of your bank receipt and the page of your passport's credentials.

3.10. The following points must be taken into consideration while paying the examination fee
inside or outside Türkiye:

a) The amount sent by an applicant is considered as a paid fee only after the sum is transferred
to the relevant account. The examination fee must not be sent as a private cheque, or in an
envelope, or as a postal cheque or through similar means.

b) The deduction to be made by the bank as an expense must be considered outside the exam
fee.

c) The candidates who paid the exam fee should carefully control the bank receipt sent to them
and if there are any mistakes in the document, they should have it corrected before leaving the
bank.

4. CALL FOR THE EXAM

4.1. The applications are evaulated by Sakarya University. In the evaluation process, both
whether the information is complete and the exam fee is transferred to the bank account are
checked. The candidates whose applications are accepted at the end of the evaluation process
are required to enter the candidates' panel and print their exam entry document and have it with
them while having the exam.

The building and the hall where the candidate will take the exam will be indicated on the exam
entry document.
4.2. The candidates have to complete travel permission and passport procedures from their own
countries in accordance with the rules of their countries in order to enter SAKARYA YOS.
Sakarya University does not take any responsibility as an intermediary institution for the
candidates to get permission for entering the examination or issue their passport.

5. THE EXAMINATION

5.1. The exam will be held on April 29, 2023 on Saturday at 15:00 pm. according to the
localtime of Türkiye.

SAKARYA YOS will be held at the same time in all exam centers. The applicants are asked to
be at the exam centers at least 1 (one) hour earlier before the onset time of the exam

5.2. It is obligatory for the applicants to bring their 2023 SAKARYA YOS Examination
Entrance Document along with their valid passports and/or Identity Cards.

5.3. It is forbidden for the applicants to bring mobile phones and calculators

5.4. The candidates will be taken to the exam hall after their identityinformation being checked
1 (one) hour before the beginning of the exam. The exam will be held on a single session. It is
extremely important for the candidates to be at the exam centers at least one hour before the
beginning of the exam for being taken to the exam halls on time.

5.5. Basic Learning Skills Test will be applied in SAKARYA YOS. The Basic Learning Skills
Test consists of 80 questions aiming to measure the ability of abstract thinking of the candidates
and their math knowledge. The questions have Turkish and English explanations.

Basic Learning Skills Test exam duration is 130 minutes.

5.6. All the questions are “multiple choice” type questions. Each question has five options and
only one option is correct.

5.7. The answers must be marked on the “answer sheet”. The answers marked on the exam
booklet will not be valid.

5.8. It is against the examination rules for the applicants to talk and cheat during the exam. If
an applicant is noticed for having such a behavior, his/her exam will be declared null and void.
5.9. Each applicant will submit his/her examination booklet and answer sheet to the supervisor
of the exam hall.

5.10. The answer sheet of the applicants will be invalid if disobedience to the exam rules or not
submitting the necessary documents are determined.

6. THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF EXAM QUESTIONS

The applicants will be able to have access to exam questions at the website:
https://yos.sakarya.edu.tr/en

7. THE PERIOD TO OBJECT TO EXAM QUESTIONS

The questions are released to the access of the applicants within the two (2) working days from
the date of exam. The applicants must submit their objections through the official and valid e-
mail addresses by themselves.

As a result of the evaluation of the objections to the questions, cancelled questions will be
accepted as correct.

8. EVALUATION OF THE EXAM RESULTS

SAKARYA YOS Basic Learning Skills Test exam scores will be calculated according to hunred
evaluation system by only taking into account the correct answers. Wrong answers will not have
any effect on the test result.

9. ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE EXAM RESULTS

9.1 Candidates will be able to learn their exam results online at http://yos.sakarya.edu.tr.

9.2. Exam Result Document will be required during final registration process to the Sakarya
University.

9.3.Candidates need to apply via https://studyinsau.sakarya.edu.tr/ with their exam results for
their registration procedure.

10. EXAM CENTER CANCELLATION

Sakarya University reserves the right to close or change the exam centers in cases of
extraordinary situations and insufficient applications. In case of changes caused by Sakarya
University, related students can take the exam at the nearest exam center or request a refund.

During the refunds, the deductions which were caused by the bank will be covered by the
candidate.
