TECHNICAL DATA SHEET DEGREASING CHEMICAL

PHOSCLEAN 123 is a low foaming strong alkaline cleaner for spray cum dip degreasing of iron and steel strips,
with proven effectiveness in degreasing and removal of dirts and smuts prior to hot dip galvanizing, electroplating
etc.

PRODUCT BENEFITS :

1) It is an excellent product for degreasing prior to continuous galvanizing process.

2) It enhances the luster of the metal sheet.
3) This is unique alkaline degreasing formulation but with low foam and high degreasing efficiency.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTION:

INITIAL BATH MAKE-UP:

Add 20 – 60 kgs of Phosclean 123 for every 1,000 ltr. of water.

BATH REPLENISHMENT:

To raise the bath concentration by one percent add 10.0 kg of Phosclean 123 per 1,000 ltrs. bath.

OPERATING DATA:

Bath Concentration : 2.0 – 6.0 %

Temperature : 650 – 850C.
Contact Time : 2 - 10 seconds or more.
Spray Pressure : 1.0 – 1.5 kg / sq. cm.

BATH CONTROL AND MAINTENANCE:

Bath Concentration: Pipette 10 mls. of bath sample into a conical flask and add 50 mls. of distilled water. Add
1 – 2 drops of methyl orange indicator and titrate with 0.1 N hydrochloric acid to red end point.

HANDLING PRECAUTIONS :

Phosclean 123 is strongly alkaline. Use gloves, goggles, aprons and boots while handling the chemical or its
solution. Splashes on skin should be washed off with clean water. If it is splashed into the eyes wash off with
plenty of clean water & obtain medical attention. Store the chemical in dry condition.

DISCARDAL :

The bath should be discarded depending on bath maintenance, the contamination build up and the work load
processed. Normal discardal frequency may be 40 – 90 days. However, the frequency of discardal is best
determined under actual plant operating conditions.

DISPOSAL :

Dispose of in a manner consistent with federal, state and local regulations.

SERVICE :
All Phosclean 123 baths are put into operation by Salts & Chemicals (P) Ltd’s staff.
