Cueshe: Good day, Miss, and good day everyone. We are from Group 2. Today, we are going to
present to you our research topic proposal.

Cueshe: We have prepared three research topics. The first one is topic A, "The phenomenon of
strand shaming among SHS students." Topic B is “The dynamics of gender identity acceptance
among the student community." And topic C is “A comprehensive analysis of the persistence and
impact of discrimination against students who are part of the LGBTQ community."

Greg: Topic A, the phenomenon of strand shaming among SHS students, particularly in our strand,
the HUMSS community. We considered this topic because, as we all know, as humss students, we
were strand-shamed and stereotyped as an “easy” strand.

Next is the problem, "effects and challenges faced by the HUMSS students.” What are the
effects and challenges humss students face after being discriminated against? Did they have a
second thought about the strand they chose? Did the discrimination get worse or better as time
passed? Some questions we have in mind. Here is Fiona to show you the following parts,

Havi: (Greetings) As you can see on the screen, here is our proposed research title for Topic
A, Exploring the Phenomenon of Strand Shaming: A Study Among AdDU-SHS HUMSS Students.
The humss students at AdDU-SHS are the population under investigation. We have come up with
this title, encouraged by curiosity to explore and research the phenomenon of strand shaming
among humss students.

Next, are the research questions, what are the underlying factors that contribute to the
occurrence of strand shaming, including peer pressure, parental expectations, and societal
attitudes? Second, To what extent does strand shaming influence students' academic choices, study
habits, and career aspirations? Third, How does strand shaming manifest among SHS students in
terms of behaviors, language, and social interactions? Here is Reeven to discuss with you the next
part.

Reeven: (Greetings) Here are some additional information and questions that we have
prepared to justify our chosen research topic. First is the relevance of the topic, strand shaming lies
in its potential impact on students' mental health, self-esteem, and academic performance. Being
discriminated against affects a student's life, especially their academic performance. Next, why are
we interested in this topic? Our group has recognized the harmful effects of strand shaming on
students and on their overall quality of education.

Reeven: Is this feasible? Feasibility depends on factors like access to students, data
collection methods, and ethical considerations. It is important for us to ensure that our research
meets ethical guidelines and obtains proper consent from the participants. Next are the research
gaps. The first is limited empirical research, where there is a need for empirical studies that
specifically explore the extent, causes, and consequences of strand shaming. Second, intervention
strategies where there might be a lack of evidence-based strategies to address and mitigate strand
shaming in educational settings. Third, long-term effects (read sa screen), and fourth, comparative
analysis (read screen too).
Marxian: (Greetings) Presented to you is our topic B, the dynamics of gender identity
acceptance among the student community. The problem is maintaining a harmonious community
within gender identity acceptance. Next is the title, Exploring the Dynamics of Gender Identity
Acceptance: Uniforms and Gender Roles in the AdDU-SHS HUMSS Community. Here are the
research questions. First, how do gender roles and uniform policies impact the acceptance of
gender identity within the AdDU-SHS HUMSS community? Second, what are the challenges faced
by students in maintaining a harmonious community within gender identity acceptance in the
AdDU-SHS HUMSS community? And lastly, How can the AdDU-SHS HUMSS community promote
inclusivity and acceptance of diverse gender identities? Carl is going to present the next part.

Carl: (Greetings) This is our relevance to the topic, where gender identity acceptance is
directly linked to social equity and justice. For us, it is important to ensure that all students,
regardless of their gender identity, can access education and campus resources in an inclusive and
supportive environment. Why are we interested in this topic? Understanding the dynamics of
gender identity acceptance can inform curriculum development, support services, and campus
policies to create a more inclusive environment. Therefore, being able to understand this could help
us maintain a healthy community. Next, is this feasible? Conducting research on gender identity
acceptance among the student community is indeed feasible. We have to collaborate with
educational institutions, student organizations, or LGBTQ+ advocacy groups to facilitate access to
participants and resources. Lastly, there is the research gap, intersectionality, where gender identity
acceptance can vary significantly based on intersecting factors such as race, ethnicity,
socioeconomic status, and disability.

Erwin: (Greetings) The last one is topic C, a comprehensive analysis of the persistence and
impact of discrimination against students who are part of the LGBTQ community. Here is the
problem, concerns about the impact of discrimination on students belonging to the LGBTQ
community. Next is the title, Exploring the Persistence and Impact of Discrimination Against LGBTQ
Students in AdDU-SHS HUMMS Community Educational Settings.
Here are our research questions (pwede sa screen ka magread) first, how prevalent is
discrimination against LGBTQ students in educational institutions, and what are the different forms it
takes (physical, verbal, and cyberbullying)? Second, what are the long-term academic and personal
consequences of discrimination for LGBTQ students, and how do these experiences influence their
post-graduation trajectories? And third, how do the perceptions of LGBTQ students regarding the
attitudes and actions of faculty, staff, and fellow students influence their overall educational
experience?

Cueshe: (Greetings) Here is additional information for the last part of the last topic. The
relevance of topic C. Discrimination can have a significant impact on LGBTQ students' educational
experiences and outcomes. Where it can lead to lower academic achievement, higher dropout
rates, and increased mental health issues. Addressing discrimination is essential for achieving
educational equity. Why are we interested in this topic? We are interested in conducting this
research because it is a matter of social justice and equity to ensure that all students, regardless of
their sexual orientation or gender identity, have access to a safe and inclusive educational
environment. Next is the feasibility of the research. Conducting research on this topic is feasible but
may come with challenges like access to data, ethical considerations when working with vulnerable
populations, and the need for a multidisciplinary approach involving psychology, sociology,
education, and legal studies. Lastly are the research gaps. Since research often focuses on LGBTQ
discrimination in isolation from other forms of discrimination like racial or religious discrimination, a
research gap exists in understanding how these intersecting identities compound the discrimination
experienced by LGBTQ students.
