odern ways of communication such as email and messaging have reduced the
amount of time that people spend on meeting with their friends. This has had
a negative influence on their social life. I believe that, although spending a
great deal of time with their phones may bring some benefits, it does not outweigh the
drawbacks of this practice.

Firstly, there are a number of advantages to using modern forms of communication. By

using email or messaging, people can develop a broader outlook. This is because nowadays
most people use their phones in order to keep in touch with their friends who live in foreign
countries. For example, the young generation has a particular interest in making friends
from overseas these days, but their parents do not allow them to go abroad. Therefore, they
resort to using digital ways of communication. As a result, they can maintain a good
relationship with their friends. Moreover, there might be some people who do not feel
comfortable talking with people face to face. Texting helps them to express their feelings
or fears more easily.

However, I strongly believe that texting or using email could have negative implications
for individuals. First of all, now most of the young people prefer to chat with their friends
by using their email. Sometimes they meet face to face and at that time if they use their
phones in front of them, then it could annoy them. This is because everyone wants to be
respected and listened to. Therefore, they should turn off their phones during their
conversation. Second of all, there are various types of people. Some of them are introverts.
Their parents face difficulties in helping their introverted children become more sociable.
But, this type of communication makes it more challenging. Because of this, now most
people like to stay at home and use their phones.

In conclusion, although modern types of communication can bring some benefits for
people, I still think that they have more disadvantages than advantages.
